Sun Capital Acquires Certified Power

Sun Capital Partners has acquired Chicago-based Certified Power Inc., a distributor and service provider of fluid power systems and torque transfer products. The seller was Northstar Capital. Terms of the deal were not released.



Sun Capital Partners, Inc. (“Sun Capital”), a leading private investment firm specializing in leveraged buyouts and investments in market-leading companies, today announced that an affiliate has acquired Certified Power, Inc. (“Certified Power” or the “Company”), a premier U.S. value-added distributor and service provider of fluid power systems and torque transfer products, from Northstar Capital and Company management. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.


Certified Power designs, distributes, and assembles fluid power system and torque transfer products for the movement of power applications on a variety of vehicles, including snow plows, dump trucks, skid steers and concrete mixers. It has a diverse, blue-chip customer base across a variety of end markets that include the truck equipment, mobile equipment, construction, industrial machinery, and energy sectors.  Certified Power also provides a broad service and repair offering for related products and has nine facilities across the Midwest. The Company is headquartered in the Chicago area.

In March, the firm successfully sold affiliated portfolio companies Fluid Routing Solutions, a designer and manufacturer of fuel management systems and hose extrusion products for major automotive and industrial OEMs; and Raybestos Powertrain LLC, a leading manufacturer and supplier of transmission-related products.
