Sun Capital’s PaperWorks closes acquisition of CanAmPac

PaperWorks Industries Inc, a portfolio company of U.S. private equity firm Sun Capital Partners, has wrapped up its previously announced buy of CanAmPac ULC. The deal’s value was not released. CanAmPac, a Canadian integrated paperboard and consumer packaging supplier, was sold to PaperWorks by Atlas Holdings LLC. Based in Napanee, Ontario, CanAmPac operates three divisions: Boehmer Box, LYFT Visual and Strathcona Paper. PaperWorks, a U.S. paperboard packaging business, said the acquisition will provide an expanded supply source for its North American customers. It has been backed by Sun Capital since 2008.


PaperWorks Completes CanAmPac Acquisition

Bala Cynwyd, Pa. (July 2, 2015) —PaperWorks Industries, Inc., a leading North American paperboard packaging supplier, today announced the completion of its acquisition of CanAmPac, Canada. The acquisition includes coated recycled board (CRB) producer Strathcona Paper, folding carton manufacturer Boehmer Box and LYFT Visual graphic services.

Strathcona Paper is the largest producer of CRB in Canada. The company produces high-quality, clay-coated paperboard rolls and sheets in medium- to heavy-weight calipers. Boehmer Box is known for its high-quality offset-litho printed folding cartons for North American food packaging applications.

The acquisition will enable PaperWorks to provide an expanded supply source for North American paperboard and folding carton customers in multiple markets including food, beverage, household chemicals and personal care. Projected manufacturing output for the combined companies is approximately 400,000 tons of 100% recycled paperboard, annually. Its 19 North American locations will now employ approximately 2,000 staff members.
