Strategic Value Partners LLC has named Ian Guthrie to its advisory council. Guthrie’s work background includes executive roles at Lloyds Banking Group and Halifax Bank of Scotland.
Greenwich, CT, and London, April 28, 2015 – Strategic Value Partners, LLC and its affiliates (“SVPGlobal”), a leading global investment firm focused on distressed and deep value opportunities, today announces the appointment of Ian Guthrie, previously of Lloyds Banking Group (“Lloyds”), to its Advisory Council.
Mr. Guthrie brings 25 years of banking experience to SVPGlobal, having previously held a number of executive positions at Lloyds and Halifax Bank of Scotland (“HBOS”). During his time in the corporate restructuring and workout environment, he has overseen more than £20bn of transactions across a number of asset classes. He was most recently Managing Director of Lloyds’ Real Estate Business Support Unit, where he was responsible for managing a significant part of Europe’s largest non-core real estate portfolio, and a member of the real estate Executive Committee of Lloyds’ non-core bank. Prior to Lloyds, his roles at HBOS included Head of Impaired Assets, Head of Equity Origination and Head of Integrated Partnerships, Regional Head of Acquisition & Integrated Finance and he also sat on the bank’s Private Equity Board.
Mr. Guthrie will work with SVPGlobal’s team of over 30 professionals in Europe, where SVPGlobal has had offices for over 10 years. He joins SVPGlobal’s three other advisory council members in Europe, Sir David Cooksey, former Chairman of the UKFI, Professor Dr. Bernd Farholz, former CEO of Dresdner Bank, and José Barreiro, former Global Head of Investment Banking at BBVA.
