Advantage Capital, Ironwood Capital Connecticut invest in C&M Technologies Group

Advantage Capital Partners and Ironwood Capital Connecticut have made a mezzanine investment in C&M Technologies Group, a Watermill Group-backed maker of design wire and cable, cable assemblies and retractable coil cords. The investment was made through Advantage Capital Connecticut Partners I, co-managed by Advantage Capital and Ironwood Capital Connecticut.

Knoa Software bags $5.1 mln Series B

Knoa Software said Tuesday that it has secured $5.1 million in Series B funding. The investors were Ascent Ventures, Gefinor Capital, Advantage Capital Partners and Rand Capital. Also, the company has named Simon Adell as chief financial officer and Sue Spiner as vice president of worldwide marketing. Based in New York City, Knoa is a provider of user experience management and workforce optimization solutions.

Advantage Capital Partners Awarded $75 Million Allocation in New Markets Tax Credits

New Orleans-based investment firm Advantage Capital Partners has been awarded $75 million by the New Markets Tax Credit program, bringing the total awards received by the firm since 2002 to roughly $600 million. The New Markets Tax Credit program was established by Congress 13 years ago to increase investing in low-income communities; it  allows individuals and companies to get tax credit against federal income taxes in exchange for equity investments in community development entities.

QuaDPharma Secures Financing for Expansion

QuaDPharma has secured $1 million financing from Rand Capital SBIC and Advantage Capital Partners. QuaDPharma manufactures and tests small-batch pharmaceuticals. The funds will be used to expand and market the commercial capabilities of the business.

Murphy Rejoins Advantage Capital as Chief Investment Officer

Scott Murphy has rejoined Advantage Capital Partners as chief investment officer. Murphy recently served as a U.S. Congressman where he represented New York’s 20th Congressional District from 2009-2011. Before that, Murphy worked at Advantage, a VC and small business finance form, from 2001 to 2009.

Ithaca-based BinOptics Corp., a maker of lasers and monolithically integrated optoelectronic components, has raised $13.3 million in new funding. New investors Advantage Capital Partners, Enhanced Capital Partners, Gefinor Ventures, Onondaga Venture Capital Fund and Rand Capital participated in the round, as did existing shareholders ArrowPath Venture Partners, Cayuga Venture Fund, Draper Fisher Jurvetson and FA Technology Ventures. Greenleaf Biofuels Bags Sovereign Bank Funding

Greenleaf Biofuels has closed funding with Sovereign Bank for its initial 10 million gallon per year multi-feedstock biodiesel plant in New Haven, CT. The Connecticut Community Investment Corporation (CTCIC), in conjunction with the SBA 504 program, will assume almost half of the Sovereign term loan once the plant is operational. Sovereign and CTCIC join the State of CT Department of Economic and Community Development and Advantage Capital Partners/Ironwood Capital as financial supporters of the project.

Advantage Capital Partners has invested $5.7 million in Kansas City, Mo.-based Barton Nelson Inc., a manufacturer of specialty advertising products. The money will provide working capital and growth capital to the company, the firm said in a statement.
