Mountain View, California-based big data firm BlueData has hired Schroedl as vice president of marketing. Previously, Schroedl worked at Cisco Systems, where he served as director of product and solutions marketing for the cloud computing and data center software business. BlueData is backed by Ignition Partners, Atlantic Bridge Ventures, Intel Capital, Amplify Partners and Data Collective.

Index Ventures leads $31 mln round for Datadog

Datadog, a New York City-based data monitoring service, has closed $31 million in Series C funding. Index Ventures led the round with participation from other investors that included RTP Ventures, Openview Venture Partners and Amplify Partners.

VC-backed BlueData adds two to team

Mountain View, Calif.-based big data firm BlueData has hired Jim Lenox as vice president of worldwide sales and Greg Kirchoff as vice president of business development. Veradocs picks up $14 mln

Data security start-up Veradocs has received $14 million in funding. Battery Ventures led the round with participation from other investors that included Amplify Partners. In addition to the funding, Veradocs has named Roger Lee, a general partner at Battery Ventures, to its board. Also, the company has hired Robin Daniels as its chief marketing officer.

Amplify Partners closes debut fund

Amplify Partners has closed its first fund Amplify Partners L.P. at $49,100,000 of committed capital. The firm recently appointed David Beyer as principal.

Sunil Dhaliwal Launches Amplify Partners

Early-stage investor Sunil Dhaliwal, formerly a general partner at Battery Ventures, ha launched venture capital fund that is focused exclusively on infrastructure technologies. His new Cambridge, Mass.-based firm, Amplify Partners, did not disclose how much money it has to invest but says it raised investment capital from a “blue-chip list of IT infrastructure executives, financial industry veterans and forward-thinking institutional investors” and that is initial investments will range in size from $50,000 to $1.5 million.

Datadog Secures Series A

Datadog has secured a $6.2 million series A round of funding, co-led by Index Ventures and RTP Ventures, an affiliate of ru-Net Holdings. Existing investors IA Ventures, Amplify Partners, Contour Ventures and NYCSeed also participated. Datadog is an IT service based in New York City.

Continuuity Raises $10m Series A

Continuuity has secured a $10 million Series A funding round. Battery Ventures and Ignition Partners led the round, and were joined by returning and new investors Andreessen Horowitz, Data Collective and Amplify Partners.
