Symphony raises $21.5 mln Series B

Symphony Commerce closed a $21.5 million Series B round of funding led by CRV, with participation from existing investors Bain Capital Ventures and FirstMark Capital. Headquartered in San Francisco, Symphony Commerce delivers commerce as a service to fast-growing brands.


Investor group provides $1.2 mln seed funding in Sgrouples

A group of seed investors has led a $1.2 million seed round in social networking service Sgrouples. The company has raised a total of $1.8 million in seed funding after collecting $600,000 in June, 2013. Investors in the funding round include Josh Friedman of Easton Capital, Jack Canfield, Marci Shimoff, Tom Myers, Mykola Latansky, Dan Phillips and Jack Sweeney, an operating partner with Bain Capital Ventures.


VC-backed ABILITY Network names CFO

ABILITY Network has hired Robert Barbieri as chief financial officer. Previously, Barbieri worked at Converge One where he served as a CFO. Headquartered in Minneapolis, ABILITY Network is a healthcare tech firms. Its backers include Summit Partners, Lemhi Ventures and Bain Capital Ventures.


Enrique Salem joins Bain Capital Ventures as MD

Bain Capital Ventures has appointed Enrique Salem as a managing director based in its Palo Alto office. Salem will identify and lead investments in companies in infrastructure software and services across all stages of development.

Clari pulls in $20 mln Series B

Clari said Tuesday that it has received $20 million Series B funding round. Bain Capital Ventures led the round with participation from Northgate Capital and Sequoia Capital. In addition to the funding, Bain Capital Ventures’ Ajay Agarwal has been added to Clari’s board. Based in Mountain View, Calif., Clair is a mobile-first sales productivity platform.


Concurrent closes $10 mln Series B

Concurrent has secured $10 million in Series B funding. New investor Bain Capital Ventures led the funding round. Rembrandt Ventures and True Ventures also participated.

VC-backed Chrome River taps OpenTable’s CTO for board

Chrome River has named Joseph Essas to its board of directors. Essas is the chief technology officer at OpenTable. Based in Los Angeles, Chrome River is a provider of expense management and supplier invoice processing software. It is backed by Bain Capital Ventures, Argentum and First Analysis.


Apixio snags $13.5 mln

Apixio has received $13.5 million in funding. The investors included Bain Capital Ventures and several “high-profile” unidentified Silicon Valley angel investors. Based in San Mateo, Calif., Apixio is a big data healthcare analytics firm.


Captora grabs $22 mln Series B

Captora said Tuesday that it has received $22 million in Series B financing. New Enterprise Associates led the round with participation from previous backer Bain Capital Ventures. Concurrent with the funding, Scott Sandell, a general partner at NEA, has been added to Captora’s board. Based in Mountain View, Calif., Captora is a provider of cloud marketing applications.


Andreessen Horowitz leads $57 mln funding of Optimizely

Optimizely, which provides website optimization tools, has raised a $57 million Series B round of financing led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from Benchmark Capital and Bain Capital Ventures. As part of the round, Scott Weiss, general partner at Andreessen Horowitz, has joined the board. San Francisco-based Optimizely has now raised $88 million in total funding.

Bain Capital Ventures-backed ObserveIT names new CEO

ObserveIT, which is backed by Bain Capital Ventures, has hired Paul Brady as CEO. Previously, Brady was senior vice president and general manager of Riverbed‘s performance management business unit. Based in New York City, ObserveIT is a provider of user activity recording and auditing software.


Bain Capital Ventures leads $20 mln round for Kenshoo

Digital marketing software provider Kenshoo said Wednesday that it has raised $20 million in financing. Bain Capital Ventures led the round with participation from return backers Sequoia Capital, Arts Alliance and Tenaya Capital. Also, Deepak Sindwani, a partner at Bain Capital Ventures, has been added to Kenshoo’s board of directors.

BTI Systems names Colin Doherty president and CEO

BTI Systems, a provider of cloud and metro networking software and systems to content and service providers has appointed global telecommunications industry veteran Colin Doherty as president and chief executive officer. BTI’s backers include Bain Capital Ventures, BDC, Covington Capital, GrowthWorks and additional strategic investors.


Bain Capital Ventures leads Series A round for OpenFin

OpenFin said Wednesday that it has secured $4 million in Series A funding. Bain Capital Ventures led the round. According to the firm, the capital will be used for product development and to expand its engineering team in both New York and London. Also, the firm has recently hired Mark Josling as vice president of applications. OpenFin is a provider of runtime technology for financial desktop applications.
