Local ID nets $1.9 mln seed

Los Angeles-based Local ID, a local intelligence platform that provides brands with solutions for their local marketing, has raised $1.9 million in seed funding. Crosscut Ventures led the round with participation from other investors that included Technicolor, TenOneTen, Baroda Ventures, Double M Partners, Tallwave, Wavemaker Partners and Queens Bridge Venture Partners.


Retention Science grabs $7 mln Series A

Retention Science, a Santa Monica, Calif-based retention marketing firm, has raised $7 million in Series A financing. Upfront Ventures led the round with participation from investors that included Baroda Ventures, Forerunner Ventures and Mohr Davidow Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, the firm has appointed Greg Bettinelli of Upfront Ventures and Kirsten Green of Forerunner Ventures to its board of directors.

VC-backed SHIFT hires MD for UK and Europe

SHIFT has named Kate Burns as managing director of its UK and European operations. Burns is the former CEO of AOL Europe. Headquartered in Los Angeles, SHIFT is a provider of marketing solutions for social advertisers. It is backed by Lerer Ventures, Thrive Capital, Founder Collective, Rincon Venture Partners, Baroda Ventures, Crosscut Venture Partners and DN Capital.

Fab’s Series C is Atomic

Technology investment firm Atomico has led Fab’s $105 million Series C financing. Also participating in the round are Pinnacle Ventures, ru-Net Technology Partners, Mayfield Fund and DoCoMo Capital, and several existing investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, Menlo Ventures, Baroda Ventures and First Round Capital. Fab.com Buys FashionStake

Design-focused flash sales site Fab.com has acquired NYC-based FasionStake. Terms of the deal were not released, though the company said that FashionStake founders Vivian Weng and Daniel Gulati will join Fab.com. FashionStake is an online marketplace for independent designers. Fab.com is backed by more than $50 million from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Menlo Ventures, First Round Capital, Baroda Ventures, SoftTech VC, and A-Grade Investments, an angel fund co-founded by actor Ashton Kutcher and friends Guy Oseary and Ron Burkle.

Peter Lee has joined Los Angeles-based Baroda Ventures as a partner. He previously was an associate with Prism VentureWorks and, before that, was with Clearstone Venture Partners.
