VC-backed Arcadia Biosciences files for IPO

Davis, California-based Arcadia Biosciences, an agricultural products developer, has filed for an IPO. The number of shares that will be sold as well as the stock’s price range have yet to be set. Arcadia plans on trading its IPO on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol “RKDA.” Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC and J.P. Morgan Securities LLC will be serving as the lead underwriters. Arcadia’s backers include Mandala Capital Limited, CMEA Capital, BASF Venture Capital and Saints Capital.


SmartKem rakes in Series A funds

SmartKem has secured “significant” Series A funding. The investors were BASF Venture Capital, Octopus Investments, Entrepreneurs Fund and Finance Wales. Based in the UK, SmartKem is a provider of semiconductor materials.

Arcadia Biosciences snags $33 mln

Arcadia Biosciences, a Davis, Calif-based agricultural biotech firm focused on the environment and human health, said Thursday that it has received $33 million in Series D financing. Mandala Capital Limited led the round with participation from CMEA Capital, BASF Venture Capital and Saints Capital. Piper Jaffray & Co. advised Arcadia on the transaction.


FRX Polymers raises $8 mln

FRX Polymers has closed a Series C-2 financing at $8 million. The round of financing was led by Flemish investment company, PMV. Joining PMV are FRX’s current shareholders, Evonik Venture Capital, DB Masdar Cleantech Fund, BASF Venture Capital others.


VC-backed Aspen Aerogels files for IPO

Aspen Aerogels has filed for an IPO. The number of shares that will be sold as well as the stock’s pricing terms have yet to be set. Aspen Aerogels plans on listing the stock on the NYSE under the ticker symbol “ASPN.” Barclays Capital, J.P. Morgan Securities and Citigroup Global Markets are serving as lead underwriters. Headquartered in Northborough, Mass., Aspen Aerogels is a maker of aerogel insulation used mostly in energy infrastructure facilities. The firm’s backers include BASF Venture Capital, Reservoir Capital Partners, Arcapita Ventures, Tenaya Capital and RockPort Capital Partners.

NanoH2O Recruits Global Operations Veteran COO

NanoH2O, a manufacturer of cost effective reverse osmosis membranes for seawater desalination, has appointed global operations veteran, Doug Barnes as chief operating officer. The business is backed by Oak Investment Partners, Khosla Ventures, BASF Venture Capital, Total Energy Ventures International and Keytone Ventures.

BASF Venture Capital Backs Solidia Technologies

BASF Venture Capital is investing $5 million in Solidia Technologies as part of a $27 million financing round. The current round of financing also includes Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, BP Ventures and Bright Capital, the venture arm of RU-COM Corporation.
