STAND rallies $2.25 mln in Resolute Ventures-led round

Personal philanthropy social network STAND has secured $2.25 million in funding. Resolute Ventures led the round with participation from other investors that included Jack Dorsey, Greylock Discovery, Fresco Capital, MGM, LinkedIn, CITI Ventures and former Square CTO Bob Lee. In addition to the funding, STAND has appointed Biz Stone as chairman.


Twitter co-founder Williams and others launch Obvious Ventures

Obvious Ventures, a new San Francisco-based venture firm, has officially launched, according to a blog post by co-founder Ev Williams, The firm is  currently raising capital for its inaugural fund that will focus on “world positive” investing. In addition to Williams, who is a co-founder of Twitter, Obvious Ventures’ other co-founders are James Joaquin and Vishal Vasishth. Among Obvious Ventures’ advisors are Twitter co-founder Biz Stone and actor Leonardo DiCaprio.

Twitter Founders Relaunch Obvious

(Reuters) – Twitter co-founders Biz Stone and Evan Williams plan to revive Obvious, the company they conceived years ago as a technology project incubator that eventually spawned Twitter.

Stone and Williams will continue to advise Twitter on strategic matters, but devote the lions’ share of their time to The Obvious Corporation, Stone told the Aspen Ideas Conference at the ski resort on Tuesday.

The pair, along with others such as Jack Dorsey, who now runs payments service Square, created the four-year-old website that allows users to send 140-character messages across the Internet. It has grown into a microblogging phenomenon used by celebrities and heads of state alike, hailed at times as a crucial tool in promoting
