Founders Fund backs Modumetal

Seattle-based Modumetal, a producer of nanolaminated metals and materials, has secured undisclosed funding. The investors included Founders Fund, Chevron Technology Ventures, BP Ventures and ConocoPhillips.


Liquid Light closes $15 mln Series B funding round

Liquid Light, which develops and licenses process technology to make major chemicals from carbon dioxide, has raised a $15 million Series B funding round. New investors in the funding include Sustainable Conversion Ventures. Existing investors include VantagePoint Capital Partners, BP Ventures, Chrysalix Energy Venture Capital and Osage University Partners.

Skyonic pulls in $12.5 mln

Skyonic Corp. has raised $12.5 million in funding from ConocoPhillips and Enbridge. Based in Austin, Skyonic builds new and retrofittable plants that produce carbon-negative chemical products. Skyonic’s backers include Maxus Capital Group, BP Ventures, Northwater Capital and Energy Technology Ventures.

VC-backed Liquid Light adds Bayer veteran to executive team

Liquid Light has hired Dave Law as executive vice president of operations. Previously, Law worked at Bayer. Liquid Light is a provider of process technology that makes major chemicals from carbon dioxide. Its backers include VantagePoint Capital Partners, BP Ventures, Chrysalix Energy Venture Capital and Osage University Partners.

BASF Venture Capital Backs Solidia Technologies

BASF Venture Capital is investing $5 million in Solidia Technologies as part of a $27 million financing round. The current round of financing also includes Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, BP Ventures and Bright Capital, the venture arm of RU-COM Corporation. Chromatin Inks $10M Series D

Chicago-based Chromatin Inc., a supplier of renewable biomass feedstocks for energy producers, has closed on $10 million in Series D financing. Investors included BP Ventures and Unilever Technology Ventures, as well as return backers Quantitative Investment Holdings, the Malaysian Life Sciences Capital Fund and Illinois Ventures.
