KPCB leads Series B round for DoorDash

On-demand delivery company DoorDash has secured $40 million in Series B funding, it was announced in a blog post. Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers led the round with participation from return backers Sequoia Capital, Khosla Ventures and Charles River Ventures. Waypoint Capital led the round with participation from return backers Accel Partners, Charles River Ventures, DFJ Growth, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Meritech Capital Partners. Morgan Stanley was the placement agent for SimpliVity.

Subscription book service Scribd has received $22 million in funding. Khosla Ventures led the round with participation from other investors such as Redpoint Ventures, Charles River Ventures and Silicon Valley Bank. In addition to the financing, Keith Rabois has been added to Scribd’s board as an observer.

Family entertainment firm ToyTalk pulls in $15 mln

ToyTalk, a San Francisco-based family entertainment firm, has raised $15 million in funding in a round led by Khosla Ventures, the company said in a blog post on its site. Other backers included previous investors Greylock, Charles River Ventures, True Ventures and First Round Capital. According to the company, the capital infusion will be used to expand its engineering and production teams. Silicon Valley-based online education firm Udacity said Wednesday that it has secured $35 million in funding. Drive Capital led the round with participation from Bertelsmann, Recruit. Valor Capital, Cox Enterprises, Andreessen Horowitz and Charles River Ventures. In addition to the funding, Drive Capital co-founder Mark Kvamme has been added to its board of directors.

Marketing software provider HubSpot Inc, which has raised about $100 million in venture capital, on Monday registered for an initial public offering. The filing shows that VCs own 66 percent of the company, led by General Catalyst Partners, which owns about 27 percent.
