Light-Based Technologies Closes $7.5M

Light-Based Technologies Inc., which is backed by Vancouver-based GreenAngel Energy Corp., has raised $7.5 million. The Series B round was led by VantagePoint Venture Partners and Chrysalix Energy Venture Capital. The money will go to bolstering sales and marketing as well as helping to expand the company’s intellectual property portfolio. GreenAngel is a publicly traded company that invests solely in emerging private green technology companies.

Chrysalix Exits Epyon Power

Epyon Power, which is backed by Vancouver-based Chrysalix Energy Venture Capital, will be acquired by power and automation technology company ABB, the venture firm announced Thursday. Terms of the deal were not released. Epyon develops battery charging products and services for electric vehicles.

Primus Power Closes $11M

Hayward, Calif.-based Primus Power, a grid-scale energy storage company, has closed on $11 million from DBL Investors, I2BF Global Ventures, Chrysalix Energy Venture Capital and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. The infusion will be used for development and commercialization of Primus’ distributed storage technology, the company said Tuesday. The company has also previously raised money in grants from the United States Department of Energy, the Advanced Research Projects Agency — Energy, and the California Energy Commission.

General Fusion Rounds up Nearly $20M in Series B

General Fusion is having a happy Cinco de Mayo. The utility-scale fusion power company reeled in $19.5 million in a Series B round that included investors Cenovus Energy, through its Environmental Opportunity Fund, Bezos Expeditions, the personal investment company of Jeff Bezos, Chrysalix Energy Venture Capital, GrowthWorks, Braemar Energy Ventures, Entrepreneurs Fund, Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), and SET Venture Partners.
