Cloud startup Aviatrix raises $10 mln from Formation 8, Ignition

Santa Clara, Calif.-based Aviatrix, a provider of cloud networking services for the enterprise, has raised a $10 million Series A round of funding co-led by Formation 8 and Ignition Partners. The company prviously raised seed funding from Monta Vista Capital. As part of the latest round, Shirish Sathaye, general partner at Formation 8, and Nick Sturiale, managing partner at Ignition, have joined the board.


Menlo leads $10 mln funding of cloud company Platform9

Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Platform9, a provider of a SaaS solution to make it possible for companies to turn their existing IT infrastructure into a private cloud, has raised $10 million in Series B funding. Menlo Ventures led the round and previous investor Redpoint Ventures also participated. The company, which was founded by a group of former VMware engineers, has now raised $14.5 million in total funding. As part of the round, Mark Siegel, general partner at Menlo, has joined the board, which also includes Scott Raney.


Scout raises $2.75 mln from NEA, Google Ventures

Scout, which offers a cloud-based solution for filling out requests for proposals, has raised $2.75 million in seed funding. New Enterprise Associates led the funding, with participation from Google Ventures, Zapis Capital and angel investors, including Techammer and Tim O’Shaughnessy. As part of the seed funding, Chetan Puttagunta, a partner at NEA, has joined the board of the Cleveland,Ohio-based company.


Big data cloud company Qubole raises $13 mln led by Norwest

Norwest Venture Partners has led a $13 million Series B round of funding in Qubole, a provider of a cloud-based big data platform. The Mountain View, Calif.-based company has now raised $20 million in total funding. As part of the latest round, Rama Sekhar, principal at Norwest Venture Partners, has joined the board.


Mirantis raises $100 mln in funding

Mirantis, which said it is eyeing an IPO in 2016, announced it has raised $100 million in Series B funding from Insight Venture PartnersAugust Capital and existing investors Intel Capital, WestSummit Capital Management, Ericsson, and Sapphire Ventures (formerly known as SAP Ventures). As part of the funding, Alex Crisses, managing director at Insight Venture Partners, has joined the company board. Mountain View, California-based Mirantis, which provides OpenStack cloud and open source application infrastructure, previously raised $20 million.


Cloudyn raises $4 mln

San Francisco-based Cloudyn, which helps companies manage their cloud-based systems, has raised $4 million in Series A funding led by Titanium Investments. Existing investor RDSeed also participated. Cloudyn has now raised $5.5 million in total financing, having raised a seed-stage round in 2011. As part of the latest funding, Alexander Aivazov, managing partner of Titanium, has joined the board.


Redpoint backs cloud company Platform9

Platform9, founded by a group of virtualization experts who previously were with VMware, announced that it has raised $4.5 million in Series A funding from Redpoint Ventures. The Sunnyvale, California-based company, which provides datacenter management technology, also came out of stealth mode today. As part of the funding, Redpoint Ventures Partner Satish Dharmaraj has joined the board.


Bessemer leads $25 mln funding of cloud company CTERA

CTERA Networks, which provides a cloud storage services platform, has raised a $25 million Series C round of funding, led by new investor Bessemer Venture Partners. Also participating was existing investors Benchmark Capital, Cisco and Venrock. The company has now raised $45 million in total funding. As part of the funding, Adam Fisher, a partner at Bessemer, has joined the board.


Big data company Cloudera goes big with $160 mln round

Cloudera has raised a $160 million late-stage round of financing that was led by T. Rowe Price and included Google Ventures and MSD Capital, the private investment arm of Dell CEO Michael Dell. The large funding is a likely run-up to an IPO. Palo Alto, Calif.-based Cloudera said it has now raised $300 million in total funding since it was founded in 2008. Its last funding was a $65 million late-stage round in December 2012, which valued the company at more than $700 million, according to Thomson Reuters (publisher of peHUB).

Former XenSource Vets Launch Convergent-io, Raises Series A from Andreessen Horowitz
