VC-backed Bugcrowd appoints technical operations director

San Francisco-based Bugcrowd, a provider of crowdsourced security testing for the enterprise, has named Jason Haddix as director of technical operations. Previously, Haddix worked at HP Fortify where he was the director of penetration testing. The company is backed by Costanoa Venture Capital, Rally Ventures, Paladin Capital Group and Blackbird Ventures.

Enterprise data startup Alation scores $9 mln

Redwood City, California-based enterprise data startup Alation has secured $9 million in Series A funding. Costanoa Venture Capital and Data Collective Venture Capital led the round with participation from Andreessen Horowitz, Bloomberg Beta and General Catalyst Partners. In addition to the funding, Greg Sands, managing partner of Costanoa, has been appointed to Alation’s board of directors.

New York City-based professional and digital training platform Grovo has raised $15 million in Series B funding. The investors were previous backers Accel Partners, Costanoa Venture Capital, Greg Waldorf and SoftTech VC.

Apptimize has led a $4 million Series A funding round led by Costanoa Venture Capital. Menlo Park, California-based Apptimize provides optimization tools for mobile apps. Apptimize’s total funding now comes to $6 million.

VigLink picks up Series C funding, also buys LinkSmart

VigLink has received additional Series C financing from Foundry Group and Costanoa Venture Capital. The capital infusion raises the company’s overall funding tally to $20 million. Also, VigLink has bought publisher network LinkSmart. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in San Francisco, VigLink is an outbound-traffic monetization service for publishers, forums and bloggers.

Chicago-based vulnerability threat management platform Risk I/O has received $4 million in Series A funding. Costanoa Venture Capital led the round with participation from return backers U.S. Venture Partners, Tugboat Ventures and Hyde Park Angels. In conjunction with the funding, Neill Occhiogrosso, a partner at Costanoa Venture Capital, has been appointed to the company’s board of directors.

VC-backed Engine Yard names new SVP of engineering

Engine Yard has hired Paul Melmon as senior vice president of engineering. Previously, he was at Costanoa Venture Capital where he served as an entrepreneur-in-residence. Based in San Francisco, Calif., Engine Yard is a cloud application management platform. It is backed by Benchmark, New Enterprise Associates, Oracle and Amazon.

Amateur sports platform GameChanger Media picks up $6.8 mln

GameChanger Media has secured $6.8 million in Series B funding. Trilogy Equity Partners led the round with participation from return backers that included Tenfore Holdings and Costanoa Venture Capital. Based in New York CIty, GameChanger Media is a mobile and web platform for amateur sports teams and their fan communities.
