API development startup Apiary raises $6.8 mln

San Francisco-based Apiary, which provides API development tools, announced it has raised a $6.8 million Series A round of funding led by Flybridge Capital Partners. Baseline Ventures and Credo Ventures also participated in the round. As part of the funding, David Aronoff, general partner at Flybridge, has joined the board. The company, founded in Prague, capital of the Czech Republic, in 2011 and maintains its co-headquarters there, has now raised $8.4 million in total funding.

For years, David Aronoff has been trying to move from Boston back to his native New York. Three months ago, the venture capitalist, who has long focused on enterprise and infrastructure companies – first for Greylock Partners and, since 2005, for Flybridge Capital Partners – managed to do just that. He insists that it couldn’t be a better time to make the leap, too.
