VC-backed Veeva launches secondary offering

Veeva Systems will launch a secondary public offering of its stock. The number of shares that will be sold have yet to be set. Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank Securities and J.P. Morgan Securities will serve as lead underwriters. Based in Pleasanton, Calif., Veeva Systems is a provider of cloud-based software solutions for the global life sciences sector. It is backed by Emergence Capital Partners.

Box appoints healthcare advisors

Box has appointed Aneesh Chopra, the first chief technology officer of the US, and Glen Tullman, former CEO of Allscripts, to serve as special advisors for the company’s healthcare and life sciences practice. Headquartered in Los Altos, CA, Box is backed by Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Emergence Capital Partners, General Atlantic, Meritech Capital Partners, NEA, Scale Venture Partners, and U.S. Venture Partners, as well as by strategic investors salesforce.com, SAP Ventures and Intel Ventures.

Box Chooses SDL to Accelerate International Growth

SDL has been selected by UK-based Box, a provider of online storage and collaboration software, as its preferred partner to expand into new international markets. Box has hired four senior sales professionals to its team. Jim Priestley joins as senior vice president of sales; Stephen Morse joins as vice president of global sales engineering; Ryan Martin as vice president of platform sales; and Scott Hebert as vice president of vertical industry sales. Replicon Raises $20M to Help Track Employee Time

Replicon Inc., which provides cloud-based timesheet software to track employee time and expenses, announced it has raised US$20 million in Series A funding led by U.S. venture capital firms Emergence Capital Partners and The Social+Capital Partnership. The company, which has offices in Calgary, Alberta, and San Mateo, Calif., was founded in 1996. Replicon will use the new funds to support growth, with a focus on continued development of its direct sales channel, and extending its reach into Europe and APAC.

WellTok Raises $18.7M From Emergence, InterWest, NEA

WellTok, Inc. said it closed an $18.7 million Series B funding with  Emergence Capital Partners and InterWest Partners co-leading the round and New Enterprise Associates joining the funding. The company also appointed Executive Chairman Jeff Margolis to chief executive officer. Margolis founded TriZetto.

Quasar Ventures Launches With $5.4M From Emergence, Others

Quasar Ventures said it has begun operations with $5.4 million in investment capital from a group of investors led by Emergence Capital Partners. The firm will follow a strategy that varies dramatically from an incubator. It plans to use its capital to develop 10 new technology companies globally in the coming four years. The firm is led by former Officenet executives Andy Freire, Santiago Bilinkis and Pablo Simón Casarino.

Emergence Names Wagonfeld As Operating Partner

Emergence Capital Partners said it appointment Alison Berkley Wagonfeld operating partner. She will work with portfolio companies and help them with recruiting and talent management. Wagonfeld previously was executive director of Harvard Business School’s California Research Center in Menlo Park and before that co-founded QuickenLoans at Intuit.

ServiceMax Inks $27 Million New Funding

ServiceMax, a provider of cloud-based, mobile and social field service applications has secured $27 million series D investment led by Crosslink Capital. Also participating in the round were Emergence Capital Partners, Mayfield Fund and Trinity Ventures. ServiceMax has raised $52 million to date.
