Oak HC/FT leads $31 mln round for Insureon

Chicago-based Insureon, a small business insurance provider, has raised $31 million in funding. Oak HC/FT led the round with participation from Accretive. In addition to the funding, Patricia Kemp, general partner at Oak HC/FT, has been added to Insureon’s board of directors to provide senior counsel for the company’s leadership team. Financial Technology Partners LP and FTP Securities LLC were the exclusive strategic and financial advisors on the transaction.


Feedzai attracts $17.5 mln Series B: Corrected

San Mateo, California-based Feedzai, a data science company that provides fraud prevention and detection solutions, has secured $17.5 million in Series B funding. The investors were Oak HC/FT, Sapphire Ventures (formerly SAP Ventures) and Espirito Santo Ventures. Financial Technology Partners advised Feedzai on the transaction. In addition to the funding, Oak HC/FT’s Patricia Kemp and Jonathan Weiner have been added to Feedzai’s board of directors.


Wave nabs $10 mln Series C

Toronto-based Wave, a free software provider for the “money side of small businesses,” has secured $10 million in Series C funding. The investors included CRV, The Social+Capital Partnership and OMERS Ventures. Financial Technology Partners advised Wave on the transaction.


Reuters: Welsh Carson pulls TransFirst sale on recap, WorldPay -sources

Buyout firm Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe has ended talks on the sale of payment processing company TransFirst to pursue a dividend recapitalization, as potential buyers held out for combining it with a unit of private equity-owned peer WorldPay, sources said. Welsh Carson had hired investment boutique Financial Technology Partners to explore a sale of TransFirst, hoping to fetch between $1.3 billion and $1.5 billion in a sale, people familiar with the matter told Reuters in September.
