Open Ocean launches new European software fund

Finnish venture firm Open Ocean has raised 100 million euros for its latest fund that will focus on backing European software companies. The fund’s investors include European Investment Fund and Finnish Industry Investment. In addition to the fund, Open Ocean is opening an office in London that will be led by Richard Muirhead, who is joining the firm as a general partner.


Dawn Capital leads funding round for LeadDesk

Finland-based LeadDesk, a provider of outbound call center software, has secured 5.5 million euros in funding. Dawn Capital led the round with participation from Finnish Industry Investment. In conjunction with the funding, Teddie Wardi of Dawn Capital has been added to LeadDesk’s board of directors.


Enevo grabs $8 mln

Enevo said Thursday that it has raised $8 million in funding. The investors included Earlybird, Lifeline Ventures, Finnish Industry Investment and Draper Associates. Based in Espoo, Finland and Boston, Enevo is a provider of trash bin sensors.


Scoopshot raises $3.9mln

Photography service Scoopshot has secured $3.9 million in Series A funding from Conor Venture Partners and Finnish Industry Investment, with participation by existing investors. The new round of funding will be used to ramp up Scoopshot’s presence in the US and UK by expanding its existing sales teams there.


Web of Trust Closes Investment Round From Inventure

Community-powered safe surfing tool Web of Trust has raised 1 million euros ($1.3 million) led by Inventure, a cross-border venture capital group based in Finland and China. Other investors include private investor Risto Siilasmaa and Finnish Industry Investment, which has been a shareholder of WOT since 2007.


Silecs International Closes on $16M Series E

Silecs International, a developer of advanced Siloxane polymers, has closed on $16 million in Series E financing. Singapore-based fund EDBI led the round, with participation from European investors Tempo Capital Partners, Innovations Kapital and Finnish Industry Investment. The round will help Silecs expand its research, production, and customer support capabilities.
