Nebula has hired Herb Schneider as senior vice president of engineering. Schneider was the co-founder of GridIron and Extreme Networks. Based in Mountain View, Calif., Nebula is a private cloud company. Its backers include Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Comcast Ventures and Highland Capital Partners.

Violin Memory names Kevin DeNuccio CEO

Violin Memory‘s board of directors has appointed Kevin A. DeNuccio as president and chief executive officer, effective immediately. He has also been elected to the Violin Memory board of directors. DeNuccio, 54, succeeds Howard A. Bain III, who was serving as interim CEO. Bain will remain chairman of the Violin Memory board of directors.

Infinio (formerly known as SilverLining Systems) has closed a $10 million Series A investment from Highland Capital Partners and Bessemer Venture Partners, bringing total funding to date to $12 million. The firms join earlier investors Lightspeed Venture Partners, Cambridge’s Founder Collective, the NYC Seed Fund, and a group of angel investors. As part of the financing, Highland’s Sean Dalton and Bessemer’s Felda Hardymon have joined the company’s board of directors.

Prescription Eyewear, parent company of myOptique.com, SunglassesShop.com and GlassesDirect.com, has added LensOn, a Nordic online contact lens seller, to its portfolio. The acquisition was financed by Prescription Eyewear’s existing venture capital investors Acton Capital Partners, Highland Capital Partners and Index Ventures. Additional funding was received from GP BullHound Sidecar, Silicon Valley Bank and Kreos Capital.
