Insight Venture leads $95 mln Series D funding in Docker, Inc

Insight Venture Partners has led a $95 million Series D funding round in Docker, Inc, an open platform for developers and administrators to build and run applications. Other participants in the funding include Coatue, Goldman Sachs and Northern Trust. Existing investors Benchmark, Greylock Partners, Sequoia Capital, Trinity Ventures and AME Cloud Ventures also invested in the round.

Salomon named CFO of Cherwell Software

Cherwell Software said Wednesday that Elizabeth Salomon has joined as CFO. Most recently, Ms. Salomon was CFO at Marshall &Swift/Boeckh and its holding company Decision Insight Information Group . Cherwell is backed by Insight Venture Partners.


Insight completes E2open tender offer

Insight Venture Partners has completed it acquisition of E2open, Inc., a provider of cloud-based collaborative planning and execution software for trading networks, according to a press release.

VC-backed Docker buys Kitematic

Docker Inc has acquired Kitematic, an open source software tool provider. No financial terms were disclosed. Docker is backed by AME Cloud Ventures, Benchmark, Greylock Partners, Insight Venture Partners, Sequoia Capital, SV Angel, Trinity Ventures and Y Combinator.


Self-storage marketplace SpareFoot snags $33 mln

SpareFoot, an Austin-based online marketplace for self-storage, has received $33 million in funding. Revolution Growth led the round with participation from Insight Venture Partners and Monkfish Equity. In conjunction with the financing, Scott Hilleboe, a partner at Revolution Growth, and entrepreneur Rony Kahan, co-founder and chairman of job search engine Indeed, have been appointed to SpareFoot’s board of directors.


Docker acquires VC-backed SDN startup SocketPlane

Docker Inc has bought software-defined networking startup SocketPlane. No financial terms were disclosed. Docker is backed by AME Cloud Ventures, Benchmark, Greylock Partners, Insight Venture Partners, Sequoia Capital, SV Angel, Trinity Ventures and Y Combinator.


NCino racks up $29 mln Series B

Wilmington, North Carolina-based nCino, a provider of cloud-based bank operating solutions for the financial services sector, has closed $29 million in Series B funding. Insight Venture Partners led the round with participation from other investors that included return backers Wellington Management Company LLP and former Morgan Stanley Chairman and CEO John Mack. In conjunction with the funding, Jeff Horing, a managing director at Insight Venture Partners, has been added to nCino’s board of directors.


Insight Venture leads $40 mln pre-IPO funding in Instructure

Insight Venture Partners has led a $40 million Series E funding round in Instructure, which makes educational software. Other investors in the funding round include Bessemer Venture Partners and EPIC Ventures. Instructure has raised $90 million to date. The pre-IPO investment will allow Instructure to launch Bridge, a cloud-based corporate learning and engagement platform.


VC-backed Syncsort completes William Data acquisition

Syncsort has closed its buy of UK-based William Data Systems, a maker of advanced network monitoring and security software products. No financial terms were disclosed. Syncsort’s backers include Insight Venture Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners, Goldman Sachs and Georgian Partners.


Insight Venture Partners to acquire E2open for about $273 mln

Insight Venture Partners has agreed to buy E2open Inc for about $273 million. BofA Merrill Lynch is serving as financial advisor to E2open on the transaction. Based in Foster City, California, E2open is a provider of cloud-based solutions for collaborative planning and execution across global trading networks.


Skytap snaps up $35 mln in Insight Venture-led round

Skytap has raised $35 million in funding in a round led by Insight Venture Partners. The other investors included OpenView Venture Partners, Ignition Partners, Madrona Venture Group and Washington Research Foundation. Based in Seattle, Skytap is a provider of on-demand Environments as a Service.


Insight Venture Partners backs Wealth-X

Wealth-X has secured undisclosed funding from Insight Venture Partners. Portico Capital Securities advised Wealth-X on the transaction. Also, Euan Menzies and Matthew Gatto of Insight Venture Partners have been added to Wealth-X’s board of directors. Headquartered in Singapore, Wealth-X is a provider of sales, marketing and compliance solutions to companies and nonprofits targeting the ultra high net worth market.
