Lead Deutsche Bank banker handling Ascensus auction quits

Jason Gurandiano, the lead Deutsche Bank banker handling J.C. Flowers & Co’s sale of Ascensus Inc, has quit, several sources said. However, the departure is not expected to delay the sale, which is now being handled by other members of the Deutsche Bank deal team, the sources said.

Goldman Sachs adds Flaherty and Winkelman to board

Goldman Sachs has named Mark A. Flaherty and Mark O. Winkelman to its board of directors. The appointments became effective December 18. Flaherty is retired from Wellington Management where he most recently served as vice chairman while Winkelman is a former operating partner at J.C. Flowers & Co. and has held various positions at Goldman Sachs.


Anbang to acquire PE-backed Fidea

Anbang has agreed to buy Belgian insurer Fidea, a portfolio company of J.C. Flowers & Co. No financial terms were disclosed. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2015.


Easterly Capital expands team with two new additions

Beverly, Mass.-based Investment firm Easterly Capital has hired David Cody and Avi Kalichstein to its team. Cody is a co-founder and former CEO of MatlinPatterson Asset Management while Kalichstein is a founder of Solel Investment Group as well as a former managing director at J.C. Flowers & Co..

Marlin founder and Duke Street sell stake in business

Irish entrepreneur Martin Dunphy has sold his 20% stake in Marlin Financial Group to Cabot Credit Management. CCM is majority-owned by Encore Capital Group, a US publicly listed company with the remaining equity being held by J.C. Flowers & Co. The sale was made alongside majority shareholder Duke Street, which also sold its stake in Marlin as part of the same transaction. The deal values the company at approximately 295 million pounds ($480 million).

AnaCap Sells Cabot Credit Management to J.C. Flowers

AnaCap Financial Partners has sold Cabot Credit Management to funds managed and advised by J.C. Flowers & Co. CCM was formed after the merger in April 2011 of two businesses, Apex Credit Management and Cabot Financial, purchased by funds advised by AnaCap and its co-investors, Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners and Partners Group.

International private equity group J.C. Flowers & Co is acquiring Belgian insurance brand Fidea from KBC. Financial details of the transaction were undisclosed.
