VC-backed Kairos buys IMRSV

Facial biometrics company Kairos has acquired IMRSV, a provider of audience analytics. No financial terms were disclosed. Kairos’ backers include Kapor Capital, New World Angels, VenVelo, Quotidian Ventures, Great Oaks Venture Capital, Eniac Ventures, 500 Startups and TechStars.


Educents collects $2.9 mln seed

Oakland, California-based Educents, an online marketplace for classroom products, has secured $2.9 million in seed funding. SoftTech VC led the round with participation from other investors that included Crosslink Capital, Deep Fork Capital, Kapor Capital and Learn Capital.


LocoMotive powers forward with $4 mln Series A

LocoMotive Labs, a Berkeley, Calif.-based developer of educational apps for young elementary students, has raised a $4 million Series A financing round co-led by Softbank Ventures Korea and TAL Education Group. Also participating in the round are existing investors K9 Ventures, Kapor Capital, NewSchools Venture Fund, Joe Gleberman, D3Jubilee and Jerry Colonna. The company has now raised $5.15 million in funding to date. As part of the Series A, Sean Lee of Softbank Ventures Korea has joined the board.


NoRedInk pulls in $6 mln in True Ventures-led round

San Francisco-based education company NoRedInk has secured $6 million in Series A funding. True Ventures led the round with participation from The Social+Capital Partnership, Kapor Capital and ReThink Education. In addition to the financing, Jon Callaghan of True Ventures has been added to NoRedInk’s board of directors.


First Round Capital leads Series A round for Velano Vascular

Philadelphia and San Francisco-based medical tech company Velano Vascular, has received $5 million in Series A funding. First Round Capital led the round with participation from Kapor Capital, Safeguard Scientifics, White Owl Capital, Griffin Hospital and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.


CodeHS snags $1.75 mln

CodeHS, which helps students learn coding, has received $1.75 million in funding, the company announced in a blog post on its site. The investors included Learn Capital, NewSchools Ventures, Kapor Capital, the Stanford-StartX Fund and Seven Peaks Ventures. To read the post, visit here.



Bullpen leads funding round for SendHub

SendHub, which provides a business phone system for mobile devices, announced a $5 million Series B round of funding led by Bullpen Capital. Kapor Capital, Menlo Ventures, Seraph Group and Eric Ries also participated in the round. The Menlo Park, Calif.-based company has now raised $10 million in total funding.


LeadGenius racks up $6 mln

LeadGenius has received $6 million in Series A funding. Sierra Ventures led the round with participation from a number of investors that included Kapor Capital, Alexis Ohanian, FundersClub, Fuel Capital, Bee Partners, Sam Altman, Scrum Ventures, CRCM and 500 Startups. Based in Berkeley, Calif., LeadGenius provides prospecting solutions for sales organizations.


Love With Food pulls in $1.4 mln

Love With Food has received $1.4 million in funding. The investors included Kapor Capital, 500 Startups, TEEC Angel Fund, Angel List Syndicate, Ironfire Capital and Scrum Ventures. Love With Food is a consumer food marketing data platform.


VC-backed XO Group buys recipe-finding app Gojee

XO Group has acquired Gojee, according to a statement made by Josh Himwich, vice president of product for XO Group. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in New York City, Gojee is a recipe-finding app. It is backed by Kapor Capital and InterWest Partners. XO Group, formerly known as The Knot, is a media company focused on weddings and pregnancy.

Social Venture Fund Provides Seed Funding to Mytonomy

Social Venture Fund, a student-led, Ann Arbor, Michigan-based “impact investing” fund that’s closely affiliated with the University of Michigan, has participated in a seed-stage financing for Mytonomy, a video storytelling platform for college and career advising. Other investors include NewSchools Venture Fund and Kapor Capital. Social Venture Fund makes investments of up to $100,000. Terms of the Mytonomy deal were not disclosed. Two-year-old Mytonomy is based in Washington, D.C.
