Kickstart Seed Fund raises $39 mln for latest fund

Kickstart Seed Fund has closed its third seed fund at $39 million. Fund III will back startups located in Utah and the Mountain West. Also, Kickstart has promoted Dalton Wright to partner and hired Curt Roberts as a venture partner.


Equity management platform Capshare bags $1 mln

Salt Lake City-based Capshare, an equity management platform for valuation service providers and organizations, has received $1 million in funding. Tim Draper Associates led the round with participation from other investors that included Kickstart Seed Fund.


TaskEasy attracts $7 mln Series A

Salt Lake City-based TaskEasy, a provider of on-demand home exterior services, has raised $7 million in Series A funding. The investors were Grotech Ventures, Access Venture Partners and previous backer KickStart Seed Fund. In conjunction with the funding, Service Magic co-CEO and founder Michael Beaudoin has been appointed to TaskEasy’s board of directors.


Quiz platform creator Qzzr racks up $2 mln seed

Qzzr has received $2 million in seed funding. Kickstart Seed Fund led the round with participation from other investors that included Pelion Venture Partners, Peterson Partners and RPM Ventures. Qzzr, which has emerged from stealth mode, is a quiz platform creator.


VidAngel grabs $600K

VidAngel said Friday that it has closed $600,000 in seed funding. The investors were Alta Ventures, Kickstart Seed Fund and Stonewall Capital. Based in Palo Alto, Calif., VidAngel is a website and app that lets users stream movies and watch YouTube.


RackWare rakes in $2.3 mln

RackWare said Wednesday that it has secured $2.3 million in funding. Previous backers Kickstart Seed Fund and Osage Venture Partners led the round. Based in Santa Calra, Calif., RackWare is a provider of cloud solutions.


Lucid Software fetches $5 mln Series A

Lucid Software has closed $5 million in Series A funding. The investors included Kickstart Seed Fund and Grayhawk Capital. Based in Salt Lake City, Lucid Software is a provider of cloud-based apps Lucidchart and Lucidpress.

Kickstart Launches $26M Fund II to Serve Utah Startups

Kickstart Seed Fund has closed on a $26 million second fund focused on early stage technology investments in Utah. That is more than twice the amount that Managing Director Gavin Christensen raised for his first fund in 2008. He has added Clarke Miyasaki as a GP and Alex Soffe as CFO to help manage the fund.

GroSocial Closes $450,000 Seed Round

GroSocial, based in Orem, Utah, has raised $450,000 in seed financing from Kickstart Seed Fund, Monarch Ventures, Rock & Hammer Ventures as well as other angel investors. The money will help GroSocial continue development of its social media marketing software for small-to-medium businesses.

Kickstar Seeds Zerista

Zerista, a Denver-based provider of software for conferences and trade shows, has raised an undisclosed amount of seed funding led by Kickstart Seed Fund.
