EQT Infrastructure II to acquire WASH

EQT Infrastructure II Fund has agreed to buy El Segundo, California-based WASH Multifamily Laundry Systems, a provider of laundry services to multifamily apartments and universities. The seller is CHS Capital LLC. No financial terms were disclosed. Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, Bain & Company and KPMG advised EQT Infrastructure II on the deal while Moelis & Company LLC, William Blair & Co and Kirkland & Ellis LLP advised WASH. Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and Natixis will provide financing for the transaction.


Kirkland Ellis taps PE lawyer Harris as a partner

Global law firm Kirkland & Ellis has hired private equity /M&A lawyer Ryan Harris as a partner in its corporate practice group. He is based in the firm’s Chicago office. Prior to joining Kirkland, Harris worked at Will & Emery where served as a partner.


PE lawyer Douglas Ryder joins Kirkland & Ellis

Global law firm Kirkland & Ellis has hired private equity and M & A attorney Douglas Ryder as a corporate partner in its New York office. Prior to joining Kirkland & Ellis, Ryder worked at Weil Gotshal & Manges.


Fried Frank taps White to head firm’s European PE practice

International law firm Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson has appointed Graham White as head of the firm’s private equity practice in Europe. He has also been named partner in Fried Frank’s corporate department and managing partner of the firm’s London office. Prior to joining Fried Frank, White was a senior partner in the London office of Kirkland & Ellis.

Willkie Farr & Gallagher taps PE lawyers for London office

Global law firm Willkie Farr Gallagher has added Matthew Dean and Claire McDaid as corporate partners in its London office. Dean’s practice is focused on formations, buyouts, financings and venture capital investments while McDaid’s practice deals with cross-border private equity and investment deals. Previously, Dean and McDaid were partners at Kirkland & Ellis International.


Kirkland & Ellis expands Houston office

Kirkland & Ellis has expanded its Houston office with the addition of transactional lawyers William W. Bos and Anthony H. Speier III. Kirkland opened the Houston office in April with the hire of M&A partner Andy Calder.


American Capital unveils $1.1bn lower mid-market vehicle

American Capital has launched American Capital Equity III. The private equity fund will invest in companies in the lower middle market. The Private Fund Group of Credit Suisse is serving as the exclusive placement agent. Kirkland & Ellis is serving as lead counsel to American Capital on the transaction.


Golden Gate Capital acquires LiveVox

Golden Gate Capital has acquired a majority stake in LiveVox. No financial terms were disclosed. Kirkland & Ellis advised Golden Gate Capital on the transaction while Morgan Lewis and GCA Savvian advised LiveVox.Headquartered in San Francisco, LiveVox is a provider of cloud contact center solutions.

Kleiner-Backed Fisker Mulls Bankruptcy as Investor Search Persists

Hybrid automaker Fisker Automotive has hired law firm Kirkland & Ellis to advise it on a possible bankruptcy filing, a source said on Thursday, while executives continue their search for a strategic investor. The company, founded in 2007, has raised more than $1 billion in venture capital, including $103.67 million last September 2012 from Advanced Equities Inc., Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and New Enterprise Associates.

Silicon Legal Strategy Appoints Kirkland & Ellis Associate

Silicon Legal Strategy has appointed Brendan Herron as the newest associate in its San Francisco office. Prior to joining SLS, Brendan was at Kirkland & Ellis in Chicago, where he represented private equity and venture capital funds and their portfolio companies in M&A transactions, equity and debt financings, public offerings and key strategic business relationships.

Riverside Expands with Acquisition

The Riverside Company has added Houston-based Jacosoft to its Emergency Communications Network platform. ECN provides critical, time-sensitive communications and has a presence in all 50 states and Canada. Kirkland & Ellis advised Riverside on the deal, and Maranon Capital provided financing.
