NewSpring Capital exits Raritan

NewSpring Capital has sold Raritan to Legrand. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in Somerset, New Jersey, Raritan is a provider of IT infrastructure management solutions.


Thoma Bravo buys iPipeline

Thoma Bravo has acquired Exton, Pennsylvania-based iPipeline, a tech provider of cloud-based software solutions for the life insurance sector. The sellers were NewSpring Capital, Technology Crossover Ventures and Volition Capital. No financial terms were disclosed. Golub Capital and Ares Capital Corp provided funding for the deal. Credit Suisse was the lead financial advisor to iPipeline on the transaction while Bank of America Merrill Lynch and William Blair served as co-advisors.


Pamplona to acquire Precyse

Pamplona Capital Management has agreed to buy Precyse, a provider of health information management solutions. The sellers are NewSpring Capital and Altaris Capital Partners. No financial terms were disclosed.

SBIA honors Monroe Capital and NewSpring Capital

The Small Business Investor Alliance, an association for lower middle market private equity funds and investors, has named Monroe Capital Partners Fund LP and NewSpring Capital as a Small Business Investment Company of the Year for 2015. Chicago-based Monroe Capital was cited in the Big Fund category while Radnor, Pennsylvania-based NewSpring Capital was recognized in the Small Fund category. Both firms will be honored in a ceremony on May 8.

NewSpring invests in USPack

NewSpring Capital has made an undisclosed investment in USPack Logistics. Based in New York City, USPack is a logistics company that provides same-day and next-day delivery services.


Nielsen buys VC-backed eXelate

Nielsen has acquired eXelate, a data solutions provider that facilitates the buying and selling of advertising across programmatic platforms. No financial terms were disclosed. eXelate’s backers included NewSpring Capital, Carmel Ventures, Menlo Ventures and Trident Capital.


NewSpring Capital to buy X5

NewSpring Capital said Wednesday it has agreed to buy X5 Solutions. Financial terms weren’t announced. Seattle-based X5 provides telecommunication software.

Message Systems pulls in $27 mln

Message Systems, an email infrastructure provider, has received $27 million in funding. The investors were Hercules Technology Growth Capital and return backers LLR Partners and NewSpring Capital.


NewSpring Capital invests in EnterpriseDB

NewSpring Capital has made an investment in EnterpriseDB. No financial terms were disclosed. In addition to the financing, Eric Jensen, a principal at NewSpring, has joined EnterpriseDB’s board of directors. Based in Bedford, Mass., EnterpriseDP is a provider of provider of Postgres software and services.

NewSpring and PPM America back Star2Star

Star2Star has secured $30 million in financing from NewSpring Capital and PPM America. According to the firm, the capital will be used for growth. Based in Sarasota, Florida, Star2Star is a provider of scalable cloud communications solutions.


NewSpring Capital invests in SpeedConnect

NewSpring Capital has led an $18 million funding round for SpeedConect, a Michigan-based wireless internet service provider. Newspring’s investment is in partnership with a Kemper Corp. subsidiary. According to SpeedConnect, the capital will be used to close its buy of Arizona-based wireless internet service provider CommSpeed. In addition to the funding, former JAB Wireless CEO Jim Vaughn has been appointed to SpeedConnect’s board of directors.


NewSpring Capital exits RedPath

NewSpring Capital has sold its stake in RedPath to PDI. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in Pittsburgh, RedPath is a molecular diagnostics lab.


Paragon Bioservices pulls in $13 mln Series A

Paragon Bioservices has closed $13 million in Series A financing. NewSpring Capital and Camden Partners led the round. Evergreen Advisors and 1st BridgeHouse Securities served as advisors to Paragon. Based in Baltimore, Paragon is a contract research and manufacturer focused on biopharmaceuticals and vaccines.

VC-backed TrialScope taps Aguinaldo as CFO

TrialScope has hired Richard Aguinaldo as chief financial officer. Previously, Aguinaldo worked at Activu Corp. where he served as CFO. Based in Jersey City, NJ, TrialScope is a provider of clinical trial solutions. It is backed by Edison Ventures, Dublin Capital Partners and NewSpring Capital.


NewSpring leads Series C round for ad tech firm Dstillery

Dstillery said Wednesday that it has secured $24 million in Series C funding. NewSpring Capital led the round with participation from previous backers U.S. Venture Partners, Menlo Ventures and Venrock. In conjunction with the funding, Mike DiPiano of NewSpring has been added to Dstillery’s board. Dstillery is a provider of audience targeting solutions for brands.


Dassault Systèmes agrees to buy PE-backed Quintiq

Dassault Systèmes has agreed to acquire Quintiq for approximately 250 million euros. Headquartered in The Netherlands, Quintiq is a supply chain planning and optimization software platform provider. It was backed by LLR Partners and Newspring Capital.
