Paintzen snaps up $7.2 mln Series A

New York City-based on-demand home and office painting service Paintzen has raised $7.2 million in Series A funding. Bullpen Capital led the round with participation from other investors that included Data Point Capital, Angelpad, NextView Ventures and Lerer Hippeau Ventures. In addition to the funding, Scott Savitz, founder and managing partner of Data Point, has been added to Paintzen’s board of directors.


WHOOP picks up $12 mln Series B

Boston-based WHOOP, a performance optimization system for elite athletes, has secured $12 million in Series B funding. Two Sigma Ventures led the round with participation from Mousse Partners, Accomplice, Promus Ventures, Valley Oak Investments and NextView Ventures.

Small biz owners social net Alignable grabs $8 mln: CORRECTED

Waltham, Massachusetts-based Alignable, a social network for small business owners, has raised $8 million in funding. Mayfield led the round with participation from previous backers Saturn Partners, NextView Ventures and Lead Edge Capital. CORRECTION: Due to a press release error, a previous version of this report incorrectly stated that Lead Edge Capital invested in Alignable. Instead, it was Lead Edge Ventures. The report has been corrected.


Shopping app Scratch picks up $3.6 mln seed

Shopping app Scratch has raised $3.6 million in seed funding. Bessemer Venture Partners led the round with participation from other investors that included NextView Ventures, Red Swan Ventures and Blue Apron CEO Matt Salzberg.


TripleLift grabs $10.5 mln Series B

New York City-based TripleLift, a programmatic native advertising platform, has raised $10.5 million in Series B funding. Edison Partners led the round with participation from return backers iNovia Capital, Laconia Capital and NextView Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Ryan Ziegler, a general partner at Edison Partners, has been added to TripleLift’s board of directors.


Konekt scores $1.3 mln

Chicago-based Konekt, a toolkit maker for internet of things device management and network connectivity, has secured $1.3 million in funding. The investors included NextView Ventures, Mucker Capital and Tyler Willis Syndicate (including Maiden Lane).


InsightSquared picks up $13.5 mln Series C

Cambridge, Mass.-based InsightSquared, a provider of analytics solutions for small and midsize businesses, has received $13.5 million in Series C funding. The investors were Atlas Ventures, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, NextView Ventures and Two Sigma Ventures.


Paintzen snags $1.81 mln seed

Paintzen has closed $1.81 million in seed funding. The investors were Lerer Hippeau Ventures, Nextview Ventures, Quotidian Ventures, Angelpad and Barbara Corcoran. Based in New York City and San Francisco, Paintzen is a provider of platform that provides on-demand painting services for homeowners and businesses.


BookBub scores $3.8 mln

BookBub said Thursday that it has closed $3.8 million in Series A financing. The investors included NextView Ventures, Founder Collective, Avalon Ventures and Bloomberg Beta. Headquartered in Cambridge, Mass., BookBub helps readers find ebook deals.

Online Payments Startup Plastiq Raises Fresh $6M

Plastiq, a Boston-based online payments company, has raised $6 million in financing. The round was led by Atlas Venture and Flybridge Capital Partners and also included investors in an earlier, $2.3 million financing sewn up last spring. Those other investors include NextView Ventures, Greenoaks Capital Management and individual investors such as Harvey Golub, the former chairman and CEO of American Express.
