Moka5 collects $16 mln Series D

Moka5, a Silicon Valley-based provider of next generation end-user computing solutions, has received $16 million in Series D funding. The investors included Khosla Ventures, Highland Capital Partners and NGEN Partners.


REGEN Energy closes Series B funding round on over $12 mln

REGEN Energy Inc., which provides a wireless smart grid technology platform for building owners to manage electrical demand, has closed its Series B funding round on more than $12 million. The funding round was led by new investors including a U.S. utility company, Export Development Canada and EnerTech Capital, and was supported by existing REGEN investors BDC Capital and NGEN Partners.


WP Global Partners leads $2.4 mln round for BrightFarms

Urban agricultural firm BrightFarms said Tuesday that it closed $2.4 million in financing, raising the Series B tally to $7.4 million. WP Global Partners led the round with participation from other investors that included NGEN Partners and Emil Capital Partners. In conjunction with the funding, the company has named Gregory S. Oberholtzer, a senior managing director at WP Global, to its board.

Renewable Funding garners $20 mln

Clean energy finance firm Renewable Funding has closed $20 million in funding. Prelude Ventures, Angeleno Group and Apollo Investment Corp. led the round with participation from NGEN Partners and Claremont Creek Ventures.

REGEN Energy Adds $5.5M from NGEN, BDC

REGEN Energy Inc. has closed on $5.5 million in equity financing from from cleantech investors NGEN Partners and BDC Venture Capital. As a result, Robb McLarty of NGEN and Larry Lam of BDC join the company’s board. The company is developing wireless demand management and demand response products to help commercial and industrial facilities control their HVAC systems.

Jerry Cutini Joins eIQ Energy as CEO

eIQ Energy, a developer of DC-to-DC parallel solar technology, has named board member Jerry Cutini to the post of president and chief executive officer. Previously, Cutini was chairman, CEO and president of Aviza Technology. He was also a co-founder of OnTrak Systems. San Jose, Calif.-based eIQ Energy is backed by investors including NGEN Partners.

DIRTT Nabs $22M In New Funding

DIRTT Environmental Solutions Ltd., a maker of pre-manufactured interior walls, has closed on $22 million in financing led by New York-based Expansion Capital Partners. Investment firms NGEN Partners, Apex Venture Partners, Export Development Canada and North Sky Capital also contributed. As a result, Expansion general partner Diana Propper de Callejon joins DIRTT’s board.

Fallbrook Technologies Buys Hodyon LP

Fallbrook Technologies, the San Diego-based provider of technology for improving the performance and flexibility of transmissions for vehicles and equipment, has bought Hodyon LP, a maker and distributor of energy efficient products and systems. Terms were not disclosed. Macquarie Capital Markets, NGEN Partners, and Robeco are Fallbrook’s major shareholders. The company has raised $95 million to date.

NGEN, TD Securities Back Greengate Power Corp.

Calgary-based cleantech company Greengate Power has raised $5.8 million of a planned $10.8 million financing round. Jacob Securities led the round, which included participation from venture firm NGEN Partners, SAM Private Equity and TD Securities. The financing will help Greengate continue development of its wind energy technology.

Nlyte Software Raises $12 Million Series C From NGEN

Data center infrastructure start-up Nlyte Software has raised $12 million in a Series C round led by NGEN Partners. Existing shareholders Balderton Capital, Ruffer LLP and Montalcino Holdings also participated in the round. The new funding is aimed at helping the company expand its operations and product development. Nlyte Software is based in Menlo Park, Calif. NGEN Partners has offices in Palo Alto, Calif.; New York; and Santa Barbara, Calif.

MokaFive Raises $21 Million

MokaFive, a Redwood City, Calif.-based virtual desktop management company, has raised $21 million in Series C funding. NGEN Partners led the round, and was joined by return backers Khosla Ventures and Highland Capital.

Adura Technology Raises $12 Million

Adura Technologies, a provider of wireless lighting control and energy management, today announced $12 million in new funding. NGEN Partners led the round, which includes return investors VantagePoint Venture Partners and Claremont Creek Ventures.

Fallbrook Tech Raises First VC Round

Fallbrook Technologies Inc., a San Diego-based provider of technology for improving the performance and flexibility of transmissions for vehicles and equipment, has held a first close on a $25.4 million venture capital round. NGEN Partners is leading the deal with a $10 million commitment, while Robeco also is providing $10 million from its Clean Tech Private Equity fund. Windstone Capital Partners is advising Fallbrook on the transaction.

Adidas Buys VC-Backed Textronics

Adidas International has acquired Textronics Inc., a Wilmington, Del.-based company that integrates heart rate, moisture and blood pressure monitoring technology into performance apparel. No financial terms were disclosed. Textronics had raised $11 million in VC funding since 2005, from firms like NGEN Partners, SAS Investors and Unilver Ventures. www.textronics.com
