Vidyard pulls in $18 mln Series B in BVP-led round

Kitchener, Ontario-based Vidyard, a provider of video marketing and sales enablement solutions, has received $18 million in Series B funding. Bessemer Venture Partners led the round with participation from return backers iNovia Capital, OMERS Ventures, Salesforce Ventures and SoftTech VC. In conjunction with the funding, Byron Deeter, a partner at Bessemer Venture Partners, has been added to Vidyard’s board of directors.


BuildDirect picks up $50 mln

Vancouver, British Columbia-based BuildDirect, an online shopping platform provider for building professionals to amateurs, has secured $50 million in funding. The investors included Mohr Davidow Ventures, OMERS Ventures and BMO Asset Management.


DogVacay bags $25 mln in OMERS-led round

DogVacay has secured $25 million in funding. OMERS Ventures led the round with participation from other investors that included GSV Capital, First Round Capital, Benchmark, Foundation Capital and DAG Ventures. Headquartered in Santa Monica, Calif., DogVacay is an online community provider of pet care services.


Ranovus bags $24 mln

Ranovus, a provider of multi-terabit interconnect solutions for data center and communications networks, has secured $24 million in financing. Its backers include Azure Capital Partners, T-Venture, BDC Venture Capital, OMERS Ventures and MaRS Investment Accelerator Fund.


Hootsuite picks up $60 mln

Vancouver-based social relationship platform Hootsuite said Thursday that it has secured $60 million in funding. An unnamed Boston-based asset manager led the round with participation from Accel Partners, Insight Venture Partners, OMERS Ventures and Silicon Valley Bank.


D2L raises $85 mln in Series B funding from VC group

Educational technology company D2L Inc. has closed an $85 million Series B funding round led by a large institutional investor. Other investors participating in the funding round include Columbus Nova Technology Partners, Graham Holdings, Four Rivers Group, Aurion Capital and existing investors New Enterprise Associates and OMERS Ventures. Silicon Valley Bank provided debt financing. D2L has raised a total of $165 million.

HootSuite Raises $165M From Insight, Accel, OMERS: CORRECTION

HootSuite has raised $165 million of Series B funding in a deal led by Institutional Venture Partners and joined by Accel Partners and OMERS Ventures, according to a post on All Things D. IVP’s Jeff Leiberman, Accel’s Ryan Sweeney and OMERS’ John Ruffolo will join HootSuite’s board, the news site reported.

OMERS Ventures Hires Evangelist in Residence

OMERS Ventures, the venture capital investment arm of the OMERS pension plan, has appointed David Crow as evangelist in residence. In this role, Crow will advocate OMERS Ventures within the technology community. He will also help run OMERS Ventures programs and initiatives and participate in technical and business due diligence.

Hootsuite Attracts OMERS Ventures Via Secondary Market

Vancouver-based start-up Hootsuite, which sells social-media management services has attracted a $20 million investment from OMERS Ventures, part of the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System, writes Reuters. Derek Smyth Jumps to OMERS Ventures

OMERS Ventures, the venture capital investment arm of Canada’s OMERS pension plan, announced Monday that it has hired Derek Smyth as a managing director. Smyth worked previously as a partner at Edgestone Capital Partners, and also worked with Bridgescale Partners. The addition of Smyth is the second such announcement this month for OMERS Ventures. The firm recently added former PeopleSoft executive Howard Gwin as a managing director.

Wave Accounting Bags $5M

Wave Accounting acquired $5 million in a Series A financing led by VC firm Charles River Ventures. OMERS Ventures also participated in the round. Wave develops accounting software for small businesses.
