Scalr scores $7.35 mln in OpenView-led round

San Francisco and Paris-based Scalr, an enterprise cloud management platform, has raised $7.35 million in Series A funding. OpenView Venture Partners led the round. In addition to the funding, Mackey Craven, a partner at OpenView, has been added to Scalr’s board of directors while Jim Baum, a venture partner at OpenView, has become an advisor.

Expensify launches venture outfit to back fintech startups

Expensify, a provider of expense reporting solutions backed by OpenView Venture Partners, Redpoint Ventures and others, has launched a venture capital unit called Expensify Ventures. The strategic venture outfit will back early-stage companies in fintech, expense management and travel booking. Support for investments is coming from an undisclosed Series C round of funding that the San Francisco-based company raised earlier this year. Expensify Ventures has disclosed its first investment, having backed Piper, a provider of digital receipt solutions.

OpenView promotes four to partner

OpenView Venture Partners has promoted Blake Bartlett, Mackey Craven, Devon McDonald and Ricky Pelletier to partner. Bartlett joined the firm in 2013 as a vice president while Craven came on board the same year as an associate. And, McDonald first joined OpenView in 2009 and Pelletier has been with the firm since 2011.

The company has named Kelsey Heavey as analyst, Allie Letourneau as senior accountant and Gail Axelrod as PR and community maager. Previously, Heavey worked at Fiksu; Letourneau was at PricewaterhouseCoopers; and Axelrod worked at BetterCloud.
