Get Smart Content pulls in $3.5 mln

Austin, Texas-based Get Smart Content, a multichannel personalization platform, has secured $3.5 million in funding. Origin Ventures led the round with participation from Chicago Ventures and Virgo Capital.

TrackIf raises $5 mln

Trackif said Tuesday it raised a $5 million Series A round co-led by Origin Ventures and Grotech Ventures. Existing investor Chicago Ventures also participated. Minneapolis-based TrackIf provides online tracking and alerting for shoppers.


Online appointment booking platform Whittl grabs $3.3 mln

Chicago-based online appointment booking platform Whittl has raised $3.3 million in Series A funding. Origin Ventures and KGC Capital led the round with participation from other investors that included OCA Ventures, Amicus Capital, Drummond Road Capital and GrubHub co-founder Mike Evans.


Ahalogy nets $8 mln

Cincinnati-based Pinterest marketing platform Ahalogy has raised $8 million in funding. The investors included JobsOhio, Silicon Valley Bank, Origin Ventures, Hyde Park Venture Partners, CincyTech, North Coast Angel Fund, Vine Street Ventures and Drummond Road Capital.


Curiosity.com collects $6 mln Series A

Chicago-based Curiosity.com, a learning-based online marketplace, has received $6 million in Series A funding. The investors were Discovery Communications, Pritzker Group Venture Capital, Origin Ventures, Chicago Ventures and Corazon Capital. Curiosity.com is also changing ownership from Discovery Communications to Beacon Solutions.

Iris Mobile closes Series led by Origin Ventures

Iris Mobile has closed a $3 million Series A financing round led by Chicago-based Origin Ventures. Illinois Ventures, Hyde Park Venture Partners, Hyde Park Angels and OCA Ventures also participated in the investment. The growth capital will be used to expand the company’s product development, and sales and marketing initiatives.

Origin Ventures hires associate

Chicago-based early stage venture capital firm Origin Ventures has hired Eric Olson as an associate. Olson will help evaluate and manage investment opportunities for the firm’s $45 million Fund III, which was announced earlier this year.

BlueCrest Capital Backs Ifbyphone

Ifbyphone, a voice-based marketing automation platform, has secured a debt financing commitment of $2 million from industry-focused debt provider BlueCrest Capital Finance. Campus Explorer Nets Series C Round

Campus Explorer, an online site that matches students to colleges based on their interests, has raised an undisclosed amount of Series C financing. Vicente Capital Partners led the round. Existing investors OCA Venture Partners and Origin Ventures also participated pro-rata in the round. Campus Explorer will use the capital to expand its technology infrastructure and form partnerships with schools.

Ifbyphone Inks $8M Series B

Ifbyphone has raised $8 million in Series B financing from Apex Venture Partners, Origin Ventures, Spring Mill Ventures, Second Century Ventures and the i2A Fund. Ifbyphone has raised $16 million in total venture funding to date. Skokie, Illinois-based Ifbyphone provides voice applications for enterprise customers.

Shoutlet Adds $6 Million in Series B

Madison, Wis.-based Shoutlet has raised $6 million in Series B financing for its social media platform. Madison-based American Family Insurance led the round, with participation from existing shareholders Origin Ventures and Leo Capital Holdings. Shoutlet’s enterprise-focused social media platform incorporates Facebook and Twitter management, Social CRM and widget building. The company’s customers include Perry Ellis and True Religion Jeans.
