Artis Ventures raises $51.7 mln for second fund

Artis Ventures said it has raised $51.7 million for a second fund, Artis Ventures II, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The fund has a $3.3 million stake yet to sell and a target of $55 million.


Practice Fusion scoops up Telemedicine startup Ringadoc

Electronic medical records management company Practice Fusion announced it has acquired Ringadoc for an undisclosed amount. Ringadoc, which provides a patient-doctor communication platform that allows doctors to answer after-hours calls and messages and provide a diagnosis, had previously raised about $1.7 million in seed funding.

Ex-Practice Fusion CMO joins Subtraction Capital

Paul Willard, former CMO of health records management company Practice Fusion and software developer Atlassian, has joined Subtraction Capital in San Francisco as partner. Subtraction Capital was founded in 2013 by Jason Portnoy, ex-CFO of Practice Fusion. The firm, which also has an office in Salt Lake City, makes venture investments across multiple stages.

Practice Fusion raises $70 mln from Kleiner Perkins, OrbiMed, Deerfield

Healthcare records management company Practice Fusion, which is aiming to grow its healthcare platform, has raised a $70 million Series D round of funding led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and institutional investors OrbiMed Advisors and Deerfield Management Co. Existing investors, including Artis Ventures, also participated in the round, which brings the total amount raised by the San Francisco-based company to $134 million. As part of the funding, Beth Seidenberg, general partner at Kleiner Perkins, has joined the company board.

Practice Fusion Buys Venture-Backed 100Plus

Electronic medical records management company Practice Fusion has made its first acquisition, scooping up 100Plus for an undisclosed amount. 100Plus, which was launched in Practice Fusion’s health tech incubator in San Francisco, previously raised $1.25 million in seed-stage funding from Founders Fund (which is also a Practice Fusion investor), Greylock Discovery Fund, Felicis Ventures (another Practice Fusion investor) and the Band of Angels. 100Plus was co-founded by CEO Chris Hogg, a health care data analytics expert formerly with Gilead Sciences, who will join Practice Fusion’s data and product development group.

Medical Records Manager Practice Fusion Dials Up $34M Round

Practice Fusion, which operates an electronic medical record platform for 150,000 medical providers, has raised a $34 million Series C round of funding led by Artis Ventures. Other investors in the round include Felicis Ventures, Band of Angels, Founders Fund, Morgenthaler Ventures and SV Angel. among other institutional and individual investors. The company says it has now raised $64 million in total funding since it was launched in 2007.
