Quantum beefs up team with two additions

Energy-focused private equity firm Quantum Energy Partners has appointed Charles D. Davidson as a venture partner and Anthony J. Best as a senior advisor. Davidson is a former CEO and chairman of the board of Noble Energy Inc while Best is a former president and CEO of SM Energy Company.


Quantum Energy Fund VI raises $4.45 bln

Quantum Energy Partners said Wednesday that it closed its most recent fund at $4.45 billion, which includes GP commitment and other affiliated entities. Quantum will invest most of its capital in the oil and gas upstream sector while also seeking investments in the oil and gas midstream, oilfield services and power generation sectors. Park Hill Group LLC served as a placement agent for Quantum Energy Partners VI.


Intensity Midstream inks over $300 mln

Tulsa, Oklahoma-based Intensity Midstream LLC, a newly formed company focused on acquiring, developing and operating midstream assets across select North American basins, has raised over $300 million. The investors were Quantum Energy Partners and Intensity founders Joseph L. Griffin and Derek G. Gipson.


Quantum Energy Partners forms Rio II with over $350 mln

Quantum Energy Partners, a private equity firm focused on the energy industry, has formed Rio Oil and Gas II LLC with over $350 million in capital commitments. Stacey Cude, a co-founder of Rio II, will serve as president and CEO. Based in The Woodlands and Fort Worth, Texas, Rio II will focus on acquiring and developing oil and gas assets in select North American basins.


Oryx nabs $300 mln

Oryx Midstream Services has raised $300 million in financing. The investors were Quantum Energy Partners, Post Oak Energy Capital, Wells Fargo Energy Capital, Oryx management and various private investors. Based in Midland, Texas, Oryx is a provider of midstream solutions to producers in the Permian Basin.

NRG Acquires Solar Project from PE-Backed Quantum Utility Generation

NRG Solar, a subsidiary of NRG Energy Inc., has acquired a Guam-based 25.65-megawatt (AC) solar project from Quantum Utility Generation LLC. No financial details of the transaction were disclosed. The Houston, Texas-based Quantum Utility Generation is backed by Quantum Energy Partners, a private equity firm, and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.

Quantum Energy Partners Appoints Michael Linn as Senior Advisor

Quantum Energy Partners has appointed Michael C. Linn, former chairman, president and chief executive officer of LINN Energy to the firm as a senior advisor and a member of its industry advisory board. Linn will work with Quantum’s senior management team providing counsel on both investment and industry related matters.

Quantum Acquires Controlling Stake in Phoenix Services

Quantum Energy Partners has acquired a majority stake in Phoenix Services, an oilfield services company headquartered in Houston, Texas. Phoenix was formed in 2009 and provides fluids management and wellsite services, including water transport, frac tank rentals, workforce accommodations, water transfer services and crude oil hauling to E&P operators.
