Nexus eWater grabs $2.1 mln Series A

Nexus eWater, a developer of “practical” on-site water and energy recycler for new and existing homes, has raised $2.1 million in Series A funding. Thomas Reeves Hitchner, the retired general partner of QuestMark Partners, led the round with participation from other investors that included ANU Connect Ventures, the Sydney Angels and the Sydney SideCar Fund. In addition to the funding, Hitchner has been added to Nexus eWater’s board of directors while ANUCV’s Mark C. Gauci will also join as the board representative for his company.

Urban Airship picks up $21 mln

Urban Airship, a provider of customer engagement solutions for brands, has closed $21 million in Series D funding. The investors included August Capital, Foundry Group, Franklin Park Associates, QuestMark Partners, True Ventures and Verizon Ventures. Also, the company has named Erin Hintz as chief marketing officer and Mike Musson as senior vice president of strategy and business development.

IntegenX Raises $15.6M, Buys VC-backed GenVault

Genetic analysis company IntegenX has raised $15.6 million in venture capital, and acquired biotech company GenVault Corp. Life science investor Domain Associates led the round, which included participation from previous investors In-Q-Tel and RONAholdings LLC. GenVault’s existing investors QuestMark Partners, Cross Creek Partners, and Greenspring Associates now join the syndicate backing IntegenX. Pleasanton, Calif.-based IntegenX designs, manufactures and markets automated DNA and RNA based sample preparation.

News of the investment was disclosed by Cascadia Capital, a Seattle investment bank, which advised Thrift Recycling.

Overture Networks Raises $17.2 Million

Overture Networks Inc., a Morrisville, N.C.-based maker of high-speed networking equipment, has raised $17.2 million in new VC funding.

QuestMark Partners led the round, and was joined by return backers Intel Capital, Intersouth Partners, Morgenthaler Ventures, Tenaya Capital, TDF Fund and Gray Ventures. The company previously raised around $45 million.
