Currency Cloud snaps up $18 mln Series C

Payments platform Currency Cloud has secured $18 million in Series C funding. Sapphire Ventures led the round with participation from Rakuten, Anthemis, Atlas Ventures, Notion Capital and XAnge Private Equity. In addition to the funding, Andreas Weiskam of Sapphire Ventures has been added to Currency Cloud’s board of directors.


WePay grabs $40 mln Series D

WePay, a payments provider for online platforms, has raised $40 million in Series D funding. FTV Capital led the round with participation from other investors that included Rakuten, Highland Capital Partners, August Capital, Continental Investors and Ignition Partners. In addition to the funding, FTV Capital’s Chris Winship has been added to WePay’s board of directors while Rakuten’s Oskar Miel has bee appointed to WePay’s advisory board.


Bitnet scores $14.5 mln Series A

Bitnet Technologies, a digital commerce platform provider for bitcoin payments, has raised $14.5 million in Series A funding. Highland Capital Partners led the round. Other investors included Rakuten, Webb Investment Network, Bitcoin Opportunity Corp., Stephens Investment Management, Commerce Ventures and Buchanan Capital Management. In addition to the funding, Peter Bell, a partner at Highland Capital Partners, has been added to Bitnet’s board of directors.
