Boston-based Marcus Partners, a real estate estate investor, operator and re-developer, has named Ryan McDonough as a principal with a focus on the New England market. Previously, McDonough worked at Bentall Kennedy.
U.S. private equity group Blackstone Group said on Monday it had offered to buy all shares in Finnish real estate investment company Sponda (for about 1.8 billion euros ($2.0 billion) as it seeks to expand its real estate business in the Nordic region, Reuters reported.
Mapletree Investments Pte has acquired eight student housing assets in the U.S. and Canada. The seller is Kayne Anderson Real Estate Advisors. No financial terms were disclosed. Citigroup Global Markets Inc provided financial advice to Kayne Real Estate on the transaction.
Soaring Pine Capital has provided $1.6 million in financing to JJ's Holdings LP, owner of the former Birchmount Estates property in Mount Morris Township, Michigan. The capital will be used to buy 20 buildings in Mount Morris.
TruAmerica and Investcorp have acquired a two-property apartment portfolio in Orlando, Florida for $98 million. The acquisition comprises the 360-unit  at Montevista at Windermere and the 348-unit Highpoint Club.
The EMMES Group of Companies has acquired Irvine, California-based Main Plaza. No financial terms were disclosed. The property, which contains office buildings, will be renamed Centerview -- Centerview East and Centerview West.
Capstone Development Partners and Harrison Street Real Estate Capital have provided equity financing to a student housing facility at Seattle University. The total development cost of the project is about $50 million.
Ivanhoé Cambridge and its partner Callahan Capital Properties have acquired 85 Broad Street, an office building in downtown Manhattan. The price of the transaction was approximately $650 million.
NorthStar Realty Europe and China Resources Land Limited will acquire London-based 20 Gresham Street, a trophy office building, for 300 million pounds. The seller is AXA Investment Managers.
ElmTree Funds, a private equity real estate firm, has teamed up with China Life, a Chinese financial insurance company, to recapitalize an existing ElmTree net lease portfolio for $950 million. The portfolio assets are build-to-suit properties that are mostly leased to investment grade tenants. Hodes Weill Securities LLC provided financial advice to ElmTree Funds on the transaction.
