Hightower grabs new funding

New York City-based commercial leasing management platform Hightower has secured an undisclosed amount of funding, the company announced in a blog post on its site. The investors included Newmark Grubb Knight Frank Corp; Barry Sternlicht, CEO of Starwood Capital; and Bill Rudin, CEO of Rudin Management Company. Among Hightower’s previous backers are Bessemer Venture Partners, Thrive Capital and RRE Ventures.

BioLite picks up $5 mln

New York City-based BioLite, a social enterprise that provides consumer energy products for off-grid communities, has secured $5 million in funding. The investors included Acumen, Clif White Road Investments, RRE Ventures, the Disruptive Innovation Fund, Deutsche Bank and USAID. In addition to the funding, Acumen’s Sachin Rudra has been named to BioLite’s board of directors.

Comcast Ventures led the round with participation from Novel TMT, Toba Capital, Battery Ventures, Gotham Ventures, RRE Ventures and Norwest Venture Partners.

Data solutions provider Spire has secured $40 million in Series B funding. Promus Ventures led the round with participation from Bessemer Venture Partners, Jump Capital, RRE Ventures and Lemnos Labs. In addition to the funding, Mike Collett, founder and managing director of Promus Ventures, has been appointed to Spire’s board of directors.

Route 66 Ventures led the round with participation from return backers that include RRE Ventures, Crosslink Capital, Battery Ventures and Tim Draper. In conjunction with the funding, Pascal Bouvier, a general partner at Route 66 Ventures, has been added to the company’s board.

New York City-based venture firm RRE Ventures has hired Raju Rishi as a general partner and promoted Alice Lloyd George to associate. Prior to joining RRE, Rishi was a venture partner at Sigma Prime Ventures while Lloyd George worked at Signia Venture Partners and Bridgewater Associates.
