CrunchBase spins out from AOL

Emergence Capital Partners said Tuesday that it has funded the spin-out of CrunchBase from AOL. Financial terms weren’t announced. AOL will continue to hold a significant stake. Jager McConnell, former VP of sales cloud products at Salesforce.com, was named CEO of CrunchBase.

SAP says not considering acquiring Salesforce.com — Reuters

German business software company SAP (SAPG.DE) said on Friday it is not considering acquiring online rival Salesforce.com Inc (CRM.N), after a news report suggested the leaders of the two companies had held talks about strategic alliances last year, Reuters News reported.


Highfive garners $32 mln Series B

Redwood City, California-based Highfive, a provider of video conferencing device and cloud software for businesses, has received $32 million in Series B funding. Lightspeed Venture Partners led the round with participation from other investors that included Andreessen Horowitz, General Catalyst, Google Ventures, SV Angel, Aaron Levie of Box and Marc Benioff of Salesforce.com.


Pendo snags over $1 mln seed

Product engagement firm Pendo has received $1.025 million in seed funding. Core Capital Partners and Contour Venture Partners led the round with participation from other investors that included IDEAFund Partners and Brett Queener, president and COO of Smart Recruiters and former EVP of Salesforce.com.


Qubit raises $26 million Series B led by Accel

Ecommerce technology company Qubit has raised a $26 million Series B investment led by Accel Partners. Original investor Balderton Capital and Salesforce Ventures, Salesforce.com’s corporate investment group also participated.

LevelEleven has raised $2 million in funding.The firm’s investor base includes Dallas Angel Network, Tamiami Angels, Detroit Venture Partners and Salesforce.com. In addition to the funding, the company has named Tim Kopp, former CMO of ExactTarget, to its board of directors. Based in Detroit, LevelEleven is a provider of enterprise gamification and CRM solutions.


Real estate platform Urban Compass snags $40 mln Series B

New York City-based real estate platform Urban Compass has received $40 million in Series B funding. The investors included Thrive Capital, Founders Fund, .406 Ventures, Salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff, American Express CEO/Chairman Kenneth Chenault and Condé Nast parent company Advance Publications. According to the firm, the capital infusion will be used for growth and expansion as well as invest more in technology.


Salesforce.com to buy VC-backed RelateIQ

According to an announcement on its site, RelateIQ will be acquired by Salesforce.com. No financial terms were disclosed. Headquartered in Palo Alto, Calif., RelateIQ is a provider of solutions that improve business relationships. RedOwl Analytics has secured $4.6 million in Series A financing. The investors included Salesforce.com Chairman/CEO Marc Benioff, Igor Sill of Geneva Venture Group, Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank (via Sagamore Ventures), Christian Lawless of Conversion Capital, Attractor Ventures, Propel Baltimore and TEDCO‘s new Veterans’ Opportunity Fund. Headquartered in Baltimore, RedOwl is a provider of analytical solutions to security, compliance and investigative use cases.


Offerpop grabs $15 mln Series C

Offerpop, a New York-based digital marketing platform, said Tuesday that it has raised $15 million in Series C funding. Edison Ventures led the round with participation from Hearst Ventures, a unit of Hearst Corp., Salesforce.com, Windcrest Partners, CommonAngels and Mesco. Bulger Partners provided financial advice on the transaction.


Anaplan raises $100 mln Series D led by DFJ Growth

Planning platform business Anaplan has completed a Series D round of $100 million in financing, bringing total investment in the company to $150 million. The round was led by DFJ Growth with participation from Brookside Capital, Coatue Management, Sands Capital Management, and Workday and Anaplan’s current investors, Granite Ventures, Meritech Capital Partners, salesforce.com, and Shasta Ventures.
