Connected car platform Vinli pulls in $6.5 mln

Dallas-based connected car platform Vinli Inc has closed $6.5 million in Series A funding. Samsung Venture Investment Corp led the round with participation from Cox Automotive, The Westly Group and Continental. In addition to the funding, Luis Arbulu and David Liniado have been added to Vinli’s board of directors.


Samsung Venture invests in Nanosys again

Samsung Venture Investment Corp. has made a follow on investment in Nanosys Inc. Financial terms weren’t announced. Samsung Venture made an investment in Nanosys in 2010. Milpitas, California-based Nanosys develops Nano Crystal technology that is used in tablets, TVs and smartphones.


Hardware manufacturer Kateeva raises $38 mln

Kateeva, a maker of flat panel OLED displays, has raised $38 million in a Series D round of funding from from Samsung Venture Investment Corp, Sigma Partners, Spark Capital, Madrone Capital Partners, DBL Investors, New Science Ventures and VEECO Instruments Inc. The Menlo Park, California-based company has now raised more than $110 million since it was founded in 2008.


Automated Insights rakes in $5.5 mln Series B

Automated Insights has raised $5.5 million in Series B funding. Osage Venture Partners led the round with participation from investors that included Samsung Venture Investment Corp., the Associated Press, AOL co-founder Steve Case, Court Square Ventures, OCA Ventures and IDEA Fund Partners. In addition to the funding, David Drahms of Osage Venture Partners and Scott Frederick, chief operating officer of Automated Insights, have joined the company’s board of directors. Based in Durham, North Carolina, Automated Insights produces personalized narrative content from big data.
