Ripple Labs raises $28 mln

Ripple Labs said Tuesday it closed a $28 million Series A funding round that includes IDG Capital Partners and the venture arms of CME Group and Seagate Technology. Other new investors include Jerry Yang’s AME Cloud Ventures, ChinaRock Capital Management, China Growth Capital and Wicklow Capital. Also participating in this round were Bitcoin Opportunity Corp., Core Innovation Capital, Route 66 Ventures, RRE Ventures, Vast Ventures, and Venture 51. San Francisco-based Ripple Labs is a digital currency startup.


VC-backed semiconductor company Easic files for IPO

Santa Clara, California-based semiconductor company Easic Corp has filed for an IPO. The number of shares that will be sold as well as the stock’s pricing terms have yet to be set. The company plans on listing the IPO on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol “EASI.” Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC and Deutsche Bank Securities Inc will serve as the lead underwriters. Easic’s backers include Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, Crescendo Ventures, Seagate Technology and Evergreen Partners.


Egnyte raises $29.5 mln in oversubscribed round

File sharing service provider Egnyte announced it raised $29.5 million in an oversubscribed Series D round of funding. Investors include Northgate Capital Group, strategic partners Seagate Technology and CenturyLink, as well as existing investors Google Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Polaris Partners. The Mountain View, Calif.-based company, which said it was looking to raise $25 million in the Series D, has now raised $62.5 million in total funding. CEO Vineet Jain told peHUB during a reception Tuesday night that it is considering an IPO in 2015.


Coraid Adds $50M in New Funding

Redwood City, Calif.-based Coraid Inc. has added $50 million in a new round led by Crosslink Capital. Existing investors Menlo Ventures, Allegis Capital, Azure Capital Partners and affiliates of Silver Lake, as well as new investors Seagate Technology and Kinetic Ventures also contributed. Coraid is a developer of Ethernet SAN technology.
