Foursquare checks in with $45 mln financing

Jeff Glueck, the newly appointed CEO of New York-based Foursquare, announced via a Medium post this afternoon that the company has raised $45 million in equity funding led by Union Square Ventures. Other investors included Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners, DFJ Growth, Andreessen Horowitz and Spark Capital. In addition, co-founder and CEO Dennis Crowley is moving to an executive chairman position, following the CEO appointment of Glueck, who had been serving as COO.

VC-backed Velocity buys Tab Payments

Velocity, which is backed by Spark Capital, has acquired Tab Payments Corp. No financial terms were disclosed. In addition to the transaction, Adam Epstein, co-founder of Tab Payments, will lead Velocity’s operations while fellow Tab Payments co-founder Mike Kimel has been appointed to Velocity’s advisory board. Based in Montreal and Toronto, Tab Payments is a dining payments app.

Greenspring Associates led the round with participation from return backers Greycroft Partners and Spark Capital. Also, EBTH has named Mandana Dayani as chief brand officer. Boston-based Panorama Education, a provider of data analysis and feedback surveys for K-12 schools, has secured $12 million in Series A funding. The investors were Owl Ventures and Spark Capital. In conjunction with the funding, Jed Smith, co-founder and a partner at Owl Ventures and Andrew Parker, a general partner at Spark Capital, have been appointed to Panorama’s board.

MissionOG led the round with participation from Victory Park Capital, Maverick Ventures, Spark Capital and Sequoia Capital. In addition to the funding, Gene Lockhart, chair of MissionOG and former Mastercard CEO, has been added to Behalf’s board.
