AgBiome picks up $34.5 mln Series B

Research Triangle Park, North Carolina-based AgBiome LLC, an agricultural products developer, has raised $34.5 million in Series B funding. The investors included Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the University of Texas Investment Management Company, Pontifax Global Food and Agriculture Technology Fund, Polaris Partners, ARCH Venture Partners, Harris & Harris Group, Innotech Advisers, Monsanto Growth Ventures and Syngenta Ventures.


LED maker Illumitex shines with close of Series C

Illumitex, an Austin, Texas-based manufacturer of LEDs, announced it has concluded its C1 round of funding with $16 million. Strategic investor WP Global Partners led the round, which included existing investors New Enterprise Associates, Morgan Creek Capital, Mousse Partners, Apex Venture Partners, DMWMDW Interests, Syngenta Ventures and individual investors Jimmy Treybig and Larry Abrams. The company has now raised $76 million in total funding.


Brandtone closes third funding round

Brandtone is a micro-multinational company headquartered in Dublin that delivers mobile marketing campaigns for global brands in the developing and emerging markets.


Metabolon Seals $13.1M Series D

Metabolon Inc., a Durham, N.C.-based provider of biomarker discovery and analysis, has raised $13.1 million in Series D financing. New investor Keating Capital Inc. joins existing investors including Sevin Rosen Funds, Aurora Funds, Harris & Harris Group, Syngenta Ventures, Fletcher Spaght and Fulcrum Financial Partners.
