Data analytics company Datameer raises $40 mln

San Francisco-based Datameer, a provider of a big data analytics platform, announced it has raised a $40 million round of financing led by ST Telemedia. Joining the round are Top Tier Capital Partners, Kleiner Perkins Caulfield & Byers, Redpoint Ventures, Next World Capital and Software AG. The company has now raised $76 million in total funding. As part of the latest financing, Nikhil Eapen of ST Telemedia has joined the board.


Endgame scores $30 mln Series C

Endgame, a provider of security intelligence and analytics solutions for large businesses, has secured $30 million in Series C financing. The investors were Bessemer Venture Partners, Paladin Capital Group, Columbia Capital, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Edgemore Capital, Top Tier Capital Partners and Savano Capital Partners.


2nd Watch grabs $10 mln

2nd Watch has secured $10 million in funding. Top Tier Capital Partners led the round with participation from previous backers Madrona Venture Group and Columbia Capital. The company has also named Doug Schneider as CEO. He will be succeeding 2nd Watch founder Kris Bliesner who will continue as CTO. Headquartered in Seattle, 2nd Watch builds, deploys and manages Amazon Web Services-based IT operations for enterprise customers.

Maiden Lane to close initial fund – Fortune

According to Fortune, a new fund of fund Maiden Lane is set to close its debut fund at between $20 million and $25 million. The outlet reported that the fund will back syndicates and companies tied to the startup network AngelList. The LPs include Top Tier Capital Partners and Venture Investment Associates. And although Maiden Lane is “not officially part of AngelList,” one of its partners is Kevin Laws, current COO of AngelList.

Top Tier Capital Partners hires chief business development officer

Top Tier Capital Partners, a $2.4 billon San Francisco-based venture capital fund of funds manager, has recruited Jeff Watts as chief business development officer. He will lead Top Tier’s investor client business activities in the areas of sales, marketing and customer service while also contributing his perspective to Top Tier’s investment team.

Top Tier Raises $310M Toward New Venture Fund of Funds

Top Tier Capital Partners is closing in on its $400 million target for a new fund of funds to invest in venture capital. The San Francisco firm has raised $310 million for Top Tier Venture Capital VI, according to a pair of filings on Wednesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Top Tier Capital Partners said Wednesday that it has hired Sean Warren to lead its compliance and legal effort. Warren will be Top Tier’s counsel and chief compliance officer. Warren was previoulsy the president and COO of Robertson Stephens Asset Management.

Recycle Rewards Gets Waste Management Backing

Waste Management, the Texas-based sanitation and recycling company, has made a strategic investment in Recycle Rewards, and its subsidiary, Recyclebank, which tethers discounts to green “action” by consumers. With the investment, from which terms were not specified, Waste Management joins existing Recyclebank investors RRE Ventures, Sigma Partners, Kleiner Perkins Caulfield and Byers, The Westly Group, Generation Investment Management, Top Tier Capital Partners, Physic Ventures and Craton Equity Partners.

Kleiner Perkins Leads $27 Mln Financing Round for Awarepoint

Awarepoint Corp. said Wednesday that it has closed $27 million in Series F financing. Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers led the round while Top Tier Capital Partners also invested. Existing investors Cardinal Partners, Venrock, and Jafco Ventures also participated. Awarepoint, of San Diego, provides real-time location systems for U.S. hospitals.
