Cyber security company AlienVault raises $52 mln in late-stage funding

San Mateo, Calif.-based AlienVault, a provider of threat management and other cyber security services, announced it has raised $52 million in Series E funding led by new investor Institutional Venture Partners. Existing investors Trident Capital, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and GGV Capital also participated in the round. The company, founded in 2007, has now raised $116 million in total funding. As part of the latest round, Steve Harrick, general partner at IVP, has joined the board.

VC-backed Teladoc debuts IPO

Telehealth platform Teladoc has raised $156.75 million for its IPO after pricing its 8.25 million shares (originally planned at 7 million) at $19 per share. The stock began trading Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol “TDOC.” J.P. Morgan Securities LLC and Deutsche Bank Securities Inc are the lead underwriters. Teladoc’s backers include Icon Ventures, FLAG Capital Management, Greenspring Associates, QuestMark Partners, Cardinal Partners, HLM Venture Partners, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, New Capital Partners and Trident Capital.

The company plans on trading the stock on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol “TDOC.” J.P. Morgan Securities LLC and Deutsche Bank Securities Inc are serving as the lead underwriters. VC-backed HomeAway invests in Turkish vacation rental site Flat4Day

HomeAway Inc, a Austin, Texas-based online marketplace for vacation rentals, has acquired a minority stake in Flat4Day for $2 million. Based in Turkey, Flat4Day is a vacation rental website. HomeAway is backed by Austin Ventures, Redpoint Ventures, Institutional Venture Partners, Trident Capital, American Capital, Technology Crossover Ventures and Google Ventures.

ClearPoint adds principal and operating director to team

ClearPoint Investment Partners has named Taimur Shaikh as principal and Joseph Velli as operating director. Previously, Shaikh worked at Trident Capital and Oak Hill Capital Partners while Velli most recently served as chairman and CEO of BNY Convergex Group LLC.

Cloud security automation company HyTrust picks up $33 mln

Mountain View, California-based cloud security automation company HyTrust Inc has raised $33 million in funding. Accelerate-IT Ventures led the round with participation from other investors that included Vanedge Capital, Epic Ventures, Granite Ventures, Trident Capital, Cisco, Fortinet, Intel Corp and VMware. In addition to the funding, HyTrust has added Brian Nugent, a general partner at AITV, to its board of directors while AITV co-founder and General Partner Bill Malloy III, and Moe Kermani, a partner at Vanedge Capital, have been named as board observers.

HomeAway Inc, a Austin, Texas-based online marketplace for vacation rentals, has made an undisclosed investment in CanadaStays, a Canadian vacation rental website. Imagine Health snags $21 mln Series A

Cottonwood Heights, Utah-based Imagine Health, a creator of custom provider teams of hospitals and physicians, has raised $21 million in Series A funding. Trident Capital and HLM Venture Partners led the round. In conjunction with the funding, John Reardon and Arneek Multani of Trident Capital and Peter Grua of HLM Venture Partners have been added to Imagine Health’s board of directors.

Siva Power raises $10 mln for solar projects

Siva Power, a solar energy company, has raised $10 million from several sources, including $4 million in funding from DBL Investors, Medley Partners and Acero Capital. Siva also converted $3 million in debt financing the company received in May 2014 from Trident Capital, DBL, Medley and Acero, as well as the city of Wuxi, China as a new investor. The company also received $3 million from the U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Initiative, bringing total capital raised to $10 million.

Scale Venture Partners led the round with participation from Norwest Venture Partners, Redpoint Ventures, Shasta Ventures and Trident Capital. In conjunction with the funding, Stacey Bishop, a partner at ScaleVP, has been added to Extole’s board of directors.

Host Analytics picks up $25 mln in Centerview-led round

Silicon Valley-based Host Analytics, a provider of enterprise performance management solutions, has closed $25 million in funding. Centerview Capital Technology led the round with participation from return backers Advanced Technology Ventures, Next World Capital, StarVest Partners and Trident Capital. In addition to the funding, Ned Hooper, founding partner of Centerview Capital Technology, has been added to Host Analytics’ board of directors.

Mandalay Digital to acquire VC-backed Appia

Mandalay Digital has agreed to buy Appia, a mobile user acquisition network. According to terms of the deal, Mandalay Digital will buy Appia’s equity for $65 million based on its closing November 12 stock price of $3.40. Mandalay will also assume Appia’s approximate $10 million debt. The deal is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2015. Appia’s backers include Venrock, Trident Capital, DCM and Eric Schmidt’s TomorrowVentures.
