Bessemer, True back npm

Oakland-based npm Inc, a provider of software tools for JavaScript developers, has raised $8 million in a Series A round. Bessemer Venture Partners led the round, which included True Ventures. As part of the funding, Bessemer Partner Ethan Kurzweil has joined the company board.

VC-backed Metamarkets adds Payne to board

Metamarkets, a provider of programmatic marketing analytics, has named Jim Payne to its board of directors. Payne is the founder and former CEO of MoPub, a mobile ad exchange that was acquired by Twitter. Metamarkets is backed by Data Collective, Khosla Ventures, Village Ventures, IA Ventures and True Ventures.

ProsperWorks nabs $7.5 mln Series A

San Francisco-based ProsperWorks, a provider of CRM solutions for Google Apps, has closed its Series A funding at $7.5 million. True Ventures led the round with participation from other investors that included Bloomberg Beta and Crunchfund.


Hedvig nabs $12.5 mln

Santa Clara, California-based software-defined storage company Hedvig has raised $12.5 million in funding. The investors were Atlantic Bridge Capital, True Ventures and Redpoint Ventures.


DFJ, True lead Series A funding in Twin Prime

Twin Prime, a provider of  mobile data delivery optimization, emerged from stealth and announced it has raised a $9.5 million Series A round of funding. DFJ and True Ventures co-led the oversubscribed round. Also participating are Milliways Labs and Moment Ventures. As part of the funding, Bubba Murarka, partner at DFJ, and Om Malik, partner at True, have joined the company board.


HR platform Namely rakes in $11 mln

New York City-based human resources platform Namely has secured $11 million in funding. Matrix Partners led the round with participation from True Ventures, Lerer Hippeau Ventures, Greenspring Global Partners and Vayner/RSE.

Data Collective leads $15 mln round for Metamarkets

Metamarkets, a real-time analytics platform for the digital advertising space, has secured $15 million in funding. Data Collective led the round with participation from other investors that included Khosla Ventures, IA Ventures, True Ventures and Village Ventures.


Urban Airship picks up $21 mln

Urban Airship, a provider of customer engagement solutions for brands, has closed $21 million in Series D funding. The investors included August Capital, Foundry Group, Franklin Park Associates, QuestMark Partners, True Ventures and Verizon Ventures. Also, the company has named Erin Hintz as chief marketing officer and Mike Musson as senior vice president of strategy and business development.


NoRedInk pulls in $6 mln in True Ventures-led round

San Francisco-based education company NoRedInk has secured $6 million in Series A funding. True Ventures led the round with participation from The Social+Capital Partnership, Kapor Capital and ReThink Education. In addition to the financing, Jon Callaghan of True Ventures has been added to NoRedInk’s board of directors.


Ginger.io raises $20 mln from investors like Khosla and True Ventures

Ginger.io, a digital mental health monitoring system that makes use of smartphones and self-reporting to gather behavioral data, has raised $20 million in Series B funding. Khosla Ventures and True Ventures participated in the funding round, as well as new strategic investors. Ginger.io has raised a total of $28 million since its inception in 2010.


Polaris Partners leads Series A round for health app First Opinion

San Francisco-based First Opinion, an app that helps users get personal health consultations from doctors, has closed $6 million in Series A funding. Polaris Partners led the round with participation from return backers that included True Ventures, Felicis Ventures, Scrum Ventures and Monashees Capital.

Family entertainment firm ToyTalk pulls in $15 mln

ToyTalk, a San Francisco-based family entertainment firm, has raised $15 million in funding in a round led by Khosla Ventures, the company said in a blog post on its site. Other backers included previous investors Greylock, Charles River Ventures, True Ventures and First Round Capital. According to the company, the capital infusion will be used to expand its engineering and production teams. In addition to the funding, Samil Kaul, a partner at Khosla, has been added to ToyTalk’s board of directors. To read the announcement, visit here.

Mayfield leads Series A round for HashiCorp

San Francisco-based HashiCorp, a provider of DevOps solutions for the modern data center, has raised $10 million in Series A funding. Mayfield led the round with participation from GGV Capital and True Ventures.


True Ventures leads $4.9 mln Series A for Veniam

Veniam said Tuesday that it raised $4.9 million in Series A funding led by True Ventures, with participation from Union Square Ventures, Cane Investments and private investors. Mountain View, Calif.-based Veniam provides technology to turn vehicles into WiFi hotspots.
