UK recipe box service Gousto grabs funding

UK-based Gousto, a recipe box delivery company, has secured 9 million pounds in funding. Gousto’s backers include BGF Ventures, MMC Ventures, Unilever Ventures and the Angel Co-Fund. In conjunction with the funding, Simon Calver, a partner in BGF Ventures, has been added to Gousto’s board of directors.

Olapic pulls in $15 mln

New York City-based Olapic, a visual marketing content engine that collects and curates consumer-generated photos and videos, has raised $15 million in Series B funding. Felix Capital led the round with participation from Unilever Ventures, Fung Capital, Longworth Venture Partners, Michael Lazerow, Fabrice Grinda and Jose Marin Investments.

Unilever backs Brandtone in international expansion

Unilever has signed a new deal with mobile marketing company, Brandtone. Unilever will support Brandtone’s expansion into four new markets: India, China, Indonesia, and the US. Unilever will also build on the existing relationship with Brandtone in South Africa, Brazil, Kenya, Nigeria, Russia and Turkey. Founding investor in Brandtone in 2010, Unilever Ventures has played an active role in its development and global expansion.

Publicly traded OM Group has acquired Rahu Catalytics from Unilever Ventures, the European venture capital arm of Unilever. Terms of the deal were not released. Rahu is a developer of iron-ligand based chemistry for use in environmentally friendly coatings, composites and inks.
