New York City-based Clarifai, a provider of image recognition technology, has raised an overall total of $10 million in Series A funding, the company announced in a blog post on its site. Union Square Ventures, Lux Capital and Osage University Partners led the round with participation from Google Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures, Nvidia Ventures, Corazon Capital, LDV Capital and New York University.

Interactive Brokers has agreed to acquire online investing marketplace Covestor. No financial terms were disclosed. Covestor’s backers included Union Square Ventures,Spark Capital, Amadeus Capital and Bay Partners.

VC-backed Etsy files for IPO

Brookyn-based Etsy Inc, a marketplace where people buy and sell “unique goods,” has filed for an IPO. The number of shares to be sold as well as the stock’s pricing terms have yet to be set. Etsy plans on listing the stock on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol “ETSY.” Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC are the lead underwriters. Etsy’s backers include Index Ventures, Union Square Ventures and Accel Partners.

Legal research website Casetext has secured $7 million in Series A funding. Union Square Ventures led the round with participation from Formation 8 and former Thomson Reuters CEO Tom Glocer. The bulk of that funding comes mostly from Andreessen Horowitz. In addition to the funding, the venture firm’s Chris Dixon will be joining Stack Exchange’s board of directors as an observer. VHX reels in $5 mln in Comcast Ventures-led round

According to a blog post on its site, VHX has raised $5 million in Series B funding. Comcast Ventures led the round with participation from backers that included Union Square Ventures, Keith Calder, Lerer-Hippeau Ventures, Lowercase Capital and Alexis Ohanian.
