The Carlyle Group announced today that it and Sunoco Inc. have agreed to form a joint venture to revamp a major oil refinery in Philadelphia—the oldest and largest on the East Coast—saving some 850 jobs while laying the groundwork for potentially hundreds more.

Moelis Capital Partners recently bought Mxi Technologies, a company that develops software to help aircraft companies manage plane maintenance, marking the buyout firm’s third platform in the aviation market and the latest in a flurry of private equity deals in the sector in recent months. Terms of the deal weren’t released, though a source told Buyouts New York-based Moelis Capital completed the transaction for less than $100 million.
