Jama Software snags $20 mln

Portland, Oregon-based Jama Software, a computer software company, has secured $20 million in funding. The investors were Updata Partners, Trinity Ventures, Madrona Venture Group and the Oregon Angel Fund. In conjunction with the funding, Jon Seeber of Updata Partners and Tim Porter from Madrona have been appointed to Jama’s board.


Updata Partners invests in First Insight

First Insight, a provider of a predictive analytics platform, has raised $14 million in a Series B round of financing from Updata Partners. As part of the funding, Updata General Partner James Socas has joined the board of the Pittsburgh-based company.


Updata Partners invests in Ruby Receptionists

Updata Partners has acquired a majority stake in Ruby Receptionists for $38.8 million. StepStone Group is co-investing in the transaction. Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, Ruby Receptionists is a provider of live virtual receptionist services to small businesses.

VC-backed PulsePoint expands team with new hire

New York-based ad tech platform PulsePoint has hired Mitchell Eisenberg as general counsel and SVP of corporate development. Previously, Eisenberg worked at Mediabistro. PulsePoint’s backers include Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Gotham Ventures, New Atlantic Ventures, Investor Growth Capital, Updata Partners and VantagePoint Capital Partners.

Updata Partners invests in XebiaLabs

XebiaLabs said Monday that it has raised $12 million in funding from Updata Partners. According to the firm, the capital will be used for growth. In addition to the funding, Carter Griffith and James Scocas of Updata Partners have been named to XebiaLabs’ board. Headquartered in Boston, XebiaLabs is a provider of delivery automation solutions.

VC-backed PulsePoint names new SVP of product management

PulsePoint has hired Julie Preis as SVP of product management. Previously, Preis worked at Mocean Mobile. Headquartered in New York City, PulsePoint is an advertising tech and content creation firm. Its backers include Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Gotham Ventures, New Atlantic Ventures, Investor Growth Capital, Updata Partners and VantagePoint Capital Partners.

Bain Capital invests in Viewpoint Construction Software

Bain Capital has made an undisclosed investment in Viewpoint Construction Software. As part of the transaction, Updata Partners and TA Associates are selling their stakes in Viewpoint. Credit Suisse and Canaccord Genuity advised Viewpoint on the deal while Wells Fargo advised Bain Capital. Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, Viewpoint is a provider of software solutions and services to the construction sector.

Cross Atlantic sells over 1.5 million shares of Amber Road IPO

Cross Atlantic Capital Partners said Monday that it has sold over 1.5 million shares of Amber Road‘s IPO. No financial terms were disclosed. Headquartered in East Rutherford, NJ, Amber Road is a provider of global trade management solutions. It is also backed by Updata Partners, Goldman Sachs and NJTC Investment Fund.


VC-backed Amber Road sets IPO terms

Amber Road, which makes logistics and trade management software, has set the price for it proposed IPO. The VC-backed company plans to sell 6.52 million shares for $10.50 to $12.50 per share, according to a regulatory filing. Its largest shareholders are Cross Atlantic, Goldman, Updata Partners, Sachs & Co, NJTC Investment Fund and Orix Venture Finance.

TA, Updata Bid for Nintex

TA Associates and Updata Partners said Wednesday they plan to make a “significant” investment in Nintex Group. Financial terms were not announced. Nintex, of Melbourne, Australia, is a software provider. Macquarie Capital is currently a Nintex investor. The Wall Street Journal said the consortium’s offer for Nintex was valued at US$222 million. Spurrier Capital Partners and Macquarie provided advisory services to Nintex.

LogiXML Gets $10M From Summit, Grotech

LogiXML said it closed a $10 million growth equity investment led by Summit Partners. Also participating in the round is existing investor Grotech Ventures. Interactions Corporation, provider of natural, conversational automated systems for customer care, has appointed David Parkinson has chief operating officer. Parkinson, who brings more than 25 years of executive experience, will be responsible for end-to-end client relationships, which includes professional services, sales, and client relations. Interactions Corporation is backed by Sigma Partners, North Hill Ventures, Cross Atlantic Capital Partners and Updata Partners.

Datran Media and ContextWeb Merge to Form PulsePoint

New York companies Datran Media and Contextweb have merged to create Pulsepoint, a digital media company that targets marketers. Updata Leads $18M For Pet360

Updata Partners led an $18 million growth equity investment in Pet360 Inc., an online pet information and commerce company. Existing shareholder LLR Partners also contributed to the round. The company, based in Plymouth Meeting, Penn., is the parent company of pet food and supplies site PetFoodDirect.com, as well as other web sites focused on pets. Updata Partners has offices in Virginia and New Jersey.

Alert Logic Seals $12.6M Series E

Alert Logic, a provider of on-demand security-as-a-service technology, has closed on $12.6 million in Series E financing. Existing investors Updata Partners, Covera Ventures, DFJ Mercury and Access Venture Partners all contributed to the round, along with several members of the company’s management team. The company will use the fresh capital to expand its sales efforts, and broaden its products and services. Alert Logic is based in Houston and was formed in 2002.

Live Cargo Buys CMWare

Live Cargo Inc. has acquired CMWare Inc., a Plainsboro, N.J.-based provider of mobile marketing technology. No pricing terms of the equity and cash sale were disclosed. Progress Partners managed the process for CMWare, which had raised an undisclosed amount of VC funding from Updata Partners.
