VSS-backed Access Intelligence buys Exchange Monitor

Access Intelligence, a portfolio company of Veronis Suhler Stevenson, has acquired Exchange Monitor Publications and Forums, a business-to-business media company focused on conferences and e-newsletters in the defense and energy sectors. No financial terms were disclosed.

VSS sells DOAR back to shareholders

Veronis Suhler Stevenson has sold DOAR, a trial strategy consulting firm, back to shareholders, including company management. The firm first invested in DOAR in 2005. Paul Neale, DOAR’s chief executive officer, is the lead investor in the buyback. Other managers involved in the buyout include Scott Allen, Michael Ferrara and Gene Klimov.

Sony Pictures TV agrees to buy VSS-backed CSC for about $179 mln

Sony Pictures Television said Thursday that it has agreed to acquire CSC Media Group. The seller was Veronis Suhler Stevenson. According to details of the transaction, SPT will acquire 100 percent of CSC’s shares for approximately $179 million. Berenson & Company advised SPT on this deal while Lepe Partners advised CSC. Based in the UK, CSC is a satellite television channel provider.

European media and communications focused private equity group GMT Communications Partners together with Veronis Suhler Stevenson have teamed up with management to provide growth capital to IT-Ernity, a provider of business critical managed services and shared hosting for SMEs in the Netherlands. Founded in 2002 by its managing director, Sebastiaan de Koning, and R&D manager Tom Pfeifer, IT-Ernity offers a comprehensive catalogue of standardised fully managed solutions, including system administration, protection, security, application management and other outsourcing services.

Veronis Suhler Stevenson, through its VSS Structured Capital II, has made a minority investment in Cast & Crew Entertainment Services in conjunction with the previously announced acquisition of the company by ZM Capital, ZelnickMedia’s private equity fund. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Suhler Retires from Veronis Suhler Stevenson

Veronis Suhler Stevenson said Monday that John Suhler, a founding partner and president, retired at the end of 2012. Suhler is 69 years old and co-founded Veronis Suhler Stevenson in 1981. Suhler has been named Chairman Emeritus and will continue, along with other VSS Partners, to represent VSS at communications industry events, the firm said.

Advantstar Global Closes ENK Buy

Advanstar Global has completed its previously announced buy of ENK International for $155 million. ENK organizes fashion events in New York, Las Vegas, Europe and Asia. Advanstar is backed by Anchorage Capital Group, Ares Management, and Veronis Suhler Stevenson. GE Capital, RBS Citizens and U.S. Bank provided debt financing for the deal.

Rosenfield Joins Petsky Prunier

Seth Rosenfield has joined Petsky Prunier as an MD. He’s focusing on information services and business media. Rosenfield is a former banker with BMO Capital Markets and Veronis Suhler Stevenson.
