Mercatus pulls in $11.7 mln Series B

San Jose, California-based Mercatus, a provider of energy finance solutions, has secured $11.7 million in Series B funding. by Traverse Venture Partners and TPG led the round with participation from previous backers Vision Ridge Partners, Trepp and Augment Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Josh Green of Traverse Venture Partners and Mark Gudiksen of TPG have been added to the Mercatus board.


Electric bus maker Proterra nabs over $30 mln

Proterra has received more than $30 million in funding. Kleiner Perkins and GM Ventures led the round with participation from Tao Invest, Vision Ridge Partners and Hennessey Capital. The company expects an additional capital infusion of $10 million within the coming weeks. In addition to the funding, Michael Smith, vice president of Constellation and head of Constellation Technology Ventures, has been appointed to Proterra’s board. Based in Greenville, South Carolina, Proterra is a maker of electric buses.


Sungevity Inks $125 Million Funding

Global residential solar business Sungevity has completed a series of venture capital and project financings, securing up to $125 million to support the company’s growth initiatives. The funding includes $40 million raised in 2012 led by Oakland-based impact investment fund, Brightpath Capital Partners, and home improvement retailer, Lowe’s. New equity investors Vision Ridge Partners, Craton Equity Partners and Eastern Sun Capital Partners also participated. The funding also includes a combined $85 million in new project financing commitments.


Proterra Raises $23M From Hennessey, Kleiner, GM, Others

Proterra Inc. said it raised $23 million of Series B financing in a round led by Hennessey Capital and joined by existing investors Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, GM Ventures, Mitsui & Co. Global Investment, Inc., 88 Green Ventures and Vision Ridge Partners. Rajiv Ghatalia, founder of Hennessey Capital, will join the board of the electric bus maker as an advisor.
